  • The sunshine is here! Weirdly, it's sunny out the back and cloudy at the front. However, the washing is out, another load in the machine, so that's the main thing. You can tell when you're getting middle aged when the first thing you think when you see sunshine is "oooh, I can get my washing dried" :D

Sorted out all the bedlinen yesterday. Turns out we have 10 quilt covers. I'm not quite sure why. Don't think we need that many for one bed. :rotfl:
So, will be getting rid of a few of those!

Have also half filled a bag of "stuff". Cables, old phone chargers, tat, etc. Will probably put it on freecycle as "car boot stuff", or bin it if I can't get rid.

Roast chicken today mmmmmmmmm. That'll do for tea tomorrow as well. Need to get some soup out of the freezer for work lunches. Wonder if I'll get chance to actually have lunch this week!
  • all washing and ironing done for the weekend, washing up is done, soup is defrosted for tomorrow and tuesday, chicken and roasties were delicious and enough chicken left for tea tomorrow. I like the feeling of having everything "done".

If I get home from work at a reasonable time tomorrow and the weather's ok am going to wash the duvet in the bath and get it on the washing line to dry out. Washed the one off the single bed this morning and it was dry in an hour. In theory I'd like to get it done in the morning but the chances of getting up in time are somewhere between non-existent and absolutely no chance.

Realised tonight that over the whole weekend I've had less than a bottle of wine, which is pretty good for me.

Off to bed now, I think.

Still trying to empty the freezer as it desperately needs defrosting. God knows how long some of the stuff has been in there! No matter though, as long as it's edible it'll get eaten.

It's absolutely throwing it down today so have reluctantly put the heating on for a bit to get the washing dried. Needs must I suppose.

Was going to go into town and buy some new work clothes but have decided not to as there's a wardrobe of stuff upstairs and no reason why most of it isn't suitable for work. Wedding dress shopping next week anyway, so that'll blow the budget (fortunately it's also payday next week so I won't have to put the dress on the credit card).

Going to make lasagne, cauliflower cheese and something with some whoopsied brie for work lunches this week. Got loads of whoopsied fruit and veg at tesco the other day which was fantastic. Did a massive shop for £27 which I was really pleased with.

Work continues to be manic at the moment, but there are a lot of changes ahead so we'll see how that goes.

Think I'm going to cancel sky multiroom this week as we mostly watch bbc upstairs anyway. Also need to get sky to come and fix my phoneline as there's something up with it.

Ordered my wedding dress yesterday. It's more expensive than I was planning on but I feel amazing in it so I'm going for it. Have also found some amazing shoes that are very me to go with it.

OH and I both have separate Tesco clubcards and we both had £4 off when you spend £30 vouchers so, armed with two trolleys and half the shopping list each, went shopping yesterday. A decent saving and made the most of Buy 1 get 2 free on cereal and yoghurts (both of which OH will eat until the cows come home).

Still haven't phoned sky, will do it at some point this week. Also need to cancel phone contract. Just cancelled subscription for work related magazine as I never get chance to read it anyway.

Right, Sky multi-room cancelled, email sent to mobile company to cancel contract (and phone posted off to be fixed free of charge), £30 pizza express vouchers from tesco received, old laptop with failed hard drive donated to younger brother who will fix it and use it, so it seems like quite a successful weekend so far. Washing all done, ironing to be done later. Will be working all day tomorrow so I need to get everything done today.

Two weeks til payday and counting.
  • Phone contact now successfully reduced to £15 a month, sparkly new phone and old phone on the way back having been repaired. Have knocked £30 off my monthly outgoings with a couple of phone calls, which I'm very happy with.
My next target will be the gas/electric bill. Due a bill any time around now so will see where that's up to and switch accordingly.
Also need to sort wedding insurance which I should be able to do through quidco.
  • Haven't spent anything the last few days, which is quite good. Going out this weekend but with a friend who owes me £60 so I'll get that off her which should pay for my booze and food!

The state of the house is depressing me. There's so much work that needs doing, there's so much of the wedding needing to be paid for as well. OH is working all the hours god sends to get rid of his payday loans (again). I've taken possession of his bank card though, so at least he can't spend any more. Once OH has got them paid (next month I think), he can start paying towards the wedding.

I'm debating whether to keep my old phone for spare, to give it to OH or send it off to get cash (as they've only offered £45 I think I'll keep it though). As I've cancelled the insurance it's probably best to have a spare (and I do rely on my phone for, well, everything).

OH's mate is looking at my car this weekend and will take it to be MOT'd next weekend. Hopefully that won't cost too much (famous last words though, right?).
  • MOT passed no problem - cost £50 all in including a pint for the lad who did it all so that's not too bad at all.
Payday monday - have £5 left in the bank and £10 in my purse so have done alright really.

Wedding invites are here and are very nice. Have firmed up the guest list (actually about 10 less than I thought) so will need to sit and write those soon. OH is off next week so his task is to go up to the venue and finalise the meal choice and drinks arrangements.

Work is ridiculously busy thanks to the riots so I foresee lots of late night working in my future. Fortunately working = not spending so I guess that's a good thing!

Need to put the washing out now and hope it doesn't rain.

Finally got an electric/gas bill and surprisingly £170 in credit, which will be paid into my account on the 1st September. Means the direct debit will come down a little bit as well which is good. Streamlining the bills is working! And the £170 can go straight off one of the credit cards.

Looking at the cards, I think I'm gonna try to keep it uberfrugal this month and try to get £50 off the barclaycard and another £100 off the lloyds by next payday.
  • Had a night out for free last night so that was good! Haven't spent too much this week, and have £25.50 in my purse. I wonder how long I can make that last for. Not going out this weekend, except for a mate having a birthday party and he's decreed that anyone who turns up with a bottle will be turned away so that'll be nice and MSE for me at least.

Work still ridiculously busy, but nothing new there. At least it stops me spending.

The sun has just started shining, which is good as it's been throwing it down all morning. So much for a sunny bank holiday eh! Just had a delicious bacon butty and am now going to look at the cupboards and meal plan for the week, as I don't want to have to buy anything except for bread. And possibly cheese, if we run out. Either way, there are enough tins to feed a small nation so it would make sense to start using them up. And then next week I can do a shopping list of things we actually need.

As I've worked so hard this week (!) I'm going to treat myself to an afternoon of doing nothing in front of the tv.
