I Googled the flea treatment subject and came upon this thread. What makes me laugh is that in such a short thread, that are replies from people who posted one post and never came back again.

Although one was just a rant, the other three seem to be a blatant endorsement. Do these people not realise that it is highly suspect way of posting and generally points to someone connected with the company doing a bit of PR.

i buy frontline as effipro didnt work on one of the dogs, the pipettes on effipro are clumsy to open, the first time i opened one it went all over. i buy 6 pipettes of frontline for £21 online so for the sake of a few quid i dont buy effipro

I agree with you on the design of the pipettes, they're useless and I don't buy them either for that reason, but as for claiming Effipro didn't work but Frontline does - impossible, it's exactly the same product!

Perhaps you didn't actually get the product onto the animal due to the clumsy design of the pipette, hence why it appeared not to work.

Ordered it recently for my dog and 4 cats - they did not have fleas to start with but Fred picked up some ticks in the garden grrrrrr

Tottaly agree that the design of the pipettes is absolutely awful, one of the 5 I ordered arrived damaged despite being packaged quite well, they are just very flimsy, difficult to open and difficult to apply.

I am all for the price difference between Frontine and Effipro but if one can not apply the product properly due to such bad design - not sure if I will be getting it any more. Went all over cats fur rather then directly onto the skin,

    Such a shame really :(

although it contains the same main ingredient, it has genetically differing properties. if you do your research you will find it is different, albiet slightly.
also some generic i.e. non branded human drugs do not work as effectivelyl as their more expensive branded counterparts and that is fact.

My lot have fleas  - I've always found that Frontline along with washing bedding in 50+ with flea shampoo, regular vacuuming and spaying my house with Indorex (from Amazon, vets charge a fortune) have kept them down but I can't seem to get rid of them. Doesn't' help that the cowbag neighbours cats are infested and she barely feeds them never mind wormer and flea treatment - so I have to treat HER cats too!

My vet is coming to visit us (I have a very speciall girl who doesn't travel well) so I will see what she thinks about all these de flea options. I have also heard that Frontline is losing it's effectiveness - but funny how the vets are saying that now they can't make much money off it.....hmmmm...need to do some independant research on that.
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

I've switched from frontline to this purely for the money saving.Agree with the opening of the pippettes but other than that dont have a problem with it.My woofers vet no longer sells frontline but this instead but I went to an online seller to purchase to save even more.

most vets are using frontline combo now which is only on prescription, this is different to ordinary frontline/effirpro and also at my vets twice as expensive. i use frontline and get it from medicanima.com and pay about £22 for 6 which aint bad. its £35 from pets at home and £40 from vets, my vet sells the combo one for £48 i think. one has to ask is the combo worth £48.

There's a new brand on the market now called Fiprospot made by CEVA which previous Frontline users might be interested in.

  • Effipro and Frontline are the same thing... exactly the same, same chemical, same dosage... it's like saying ibuprofen didnt work for your headache so you are going back to Nurofen (a branded version of ibuprofen).

I bought Effipro for my cats and dog on a recommendation from PETMEDS (they advised that it was the same as Frontline yet cheaper).

I have found this stuff to be useless and had no effect on either of my cats or the dog who all still have fleas. I was discussing this with the vet earlier this week and she advised that there are more and more reports of apparent flea immunity to the chemical used in Frontline.

Got to say that Frontline has always worked in the past so I am tempted to try this rather than go straight for the very expensive POM option.
