Very MSE of you! We are stopping at my parents too and most of us are poorly so Christmas dinner is going to be Christmas tea. Going to enter some competitions I think now.

    have a lovely Christmas x
  • Hi everyone,

Hope your Christmas day was enjoyable. I had a good one with my family - lots of lovely food and good company. The children had a great time and received lots of gifts - have to spend today sorting out the old toys we can Ebay (should have done this before Chrimbo but couldn't find the time!) to make room for the new ones!

Am really positive about 2010 and will finalise my goals today. I am hoping to clear a good 75% of my debt but this will take lots of focus.

    Enjoy your day x

Have a good day! Great idea to ebay some of the old toys to make room.

We are still all poorly and I have raging toothache to add to the list now
:( Sitting here doing some daily clicks to get 2010 off to a good start.
  • Novagirl - hope you all get better soon! We've had a few runny noses in our house so I'm hoping we don't all get colds for the new year!!

I am going to work on finishing my goals today so will post them first thing in the morning.

Looking forward to seeing your goals tomorrow.

I've just sat and made a list of all the cashback sites I'm a member of and I'm going to make sure I get them all to cash out level this year! Wasted money just sitting there.

    Hi

I did manage to sit down last night and think about my goals for 2010. There's tons I would really like to do, but I have decided to focus on the ones I feel are most important so I can achieve quite a bit next year:

    1. Look After Myself
With a husband, 2 young children, a challenging career and a house to keep clean and tidy, I have decided to spend more time on myself. This doesn't mean that I'm going to be completely selfish but I am going to "reclaim" some time for me! I figure that if I feel great and am not so tired all the time, I won't spend money for the wrong reasons (i.e. "treating" myself) and will become a greater asset to those around me.

    2. Health & Wellbeing
As a family we do eat well but I want to make sure that all our food is planned and I go for a swim and sauna at least twice a week. I am currently overweight at 12 stones 1lb - I would like to reach 10 stones not by dieting but through healthy eating and exercise.

    3. Get Organised!
I will be making a list every Saturday which will include all the things that need to be done during the week. This way I won't get to beat myself up for things I've forgotten about.

    4. Declutter
Says it all! My house is full of stuff that I don't really need. My aim is to Ebay as much as possible and throw that money at my debts too!

    5. MSE Challenges
    a) £15K by Christmas 2010
    b) Olympic Countdown - clear my debts by July 2012
    c) Sealed Pot Challenge - I have 3 tins on the go and once they are full I'll start again!
    d) Daily £1s, Packed lunches and NSDs - The daily £1s have helped motivate me so I'll continue with them. My aim is to take a packed lunch to work every day (every time I achieve this I'll contribute £3 towards my debts). Aim to have at least 15 no spend days every month.

    6. Monthly Challenge
I will set myself a challenge every month which could be MSE related but may also be something I need to complete.

    7. Have Fun & Be Happy!
    Speaks for itself.....

I will continue to keep my diary throughout 2010. The support that all the people who post on my diary is invaluable - big thanks to Novagirl, Jo1972, Badpenny and all the others who have left me encouraging comments!

    My plan of action:

I have transferred all my credit card balances apart from one onto a 0% credit card - this card will need to be paid by November 2010. In the meantime, I will be concentrating on clearing my RBS credit card.

So there it is, all documented! I'm hoping that 2010 will be a good year for us all. Right let's get started!!!
  • I should really be putting all the new toys away and getting back to some normailty - but I've been lurking on DFWs all morning!!!

I am really positive about the New Year and am determined to stick to my guns - I just keep thinking that if I really pull out all the stops during 2010 then this time next year I will be so much better off.

I have decided that my challenge for January 2010 will be to clear out the study - it's an absolute tip and isn't a very productive place to work in. It'll take me the whole of January to get it ship shape - I'm only planning on doing 45 minutes a day, that way I won't get fed up too quickly!!

I'm going to pop into town this afternoon but won't be spending much. Am on the look out for cut price cards and wrapping paper and some pressies for up and coming birthdays.

Have a great day everyone x

WOW, some really good goals for the coming year! I like that you have chosen the challenges that you really get on with to keep you motivated throughout the year.

How about popping on the freebie forum too as there are often lots of FREE lotions and potions so you'll be able to treat yourself along the way without it costing you anything?
  • Thanks Nova - great advice as per usual!!

I didn't bother going into town so have had a NSD today! Back to work tomorrow with my packed lunch!! That'll be £3 towards my debt :j

    Have a good evening x
  • Visited the sales today. Saw a really nice top but resisted temptation - put the £45 I would have spent towards my RBS card.

    Oh it feels quite good!
