(production is the techincal aspect, eg the sound, lighting, staging, getting the artistes on the stage at the right time, working out the load baring capacities of truss etc... as well as stage management, calling/reading the book) I used to work on arena tours, theatre tours etc before my back went, now I just do the event management side of things as I am cripple girl. That means the pre-able to the event and smiling through gritted teeth whilst saying "oh thats lovely!" then puking in a bag at the thought of black roses with yellow wax dripping off them (for example)

And if anyone thinks my wedding is tacky they are un-invited. Given that I've "got" to invite clients (not best pleased about that but I suppose it is a showcase of my work and makes them feel important) and only spending £4 per head I was quite chuffed, we don't know any veggies (thank god) so thats saved hassle. 'suppose the could eat a bread cake. Or starve. Either is fine by me.

www.tackyweddings.com is my new fave website, thanks for that frannyann!!! That is on par with cakewrecks. And I LOVE cake wrecks. Nice one!

now this is really really !!!!!y of me , so apologise in advance BUT you produce very expensive height of good taste weddings / events yet are inviting clients to a £4 a head do to show case your work? , and why would they feel important ?

I think (if I'm right!) that she was talking about her own wedding which is coming up and having to invite clients, but being pleased as it was only costing £4 a head.

Presumably because she has such a high opinion of herself, and such a low opinion of her clients. In that, these high powered monied, people (who probably attend a myriad of charity/private events) would still be honoured to be invited, and their lack of taste and discernment means they would not be able to detect the cost involved. Doesn't quite ring true to me, and indicates an awful attitude to this type of business.

At the end of the day, everyone has a different idea about their wedding
Some spend thousands on a dress, so who could blame them if they want a "last hurrah" to wear it again?

I have seen these balls on TV and to be honest they look a total scream:j:j

But if its nor for you, keep your opinions to yourself

I think the OP was actually asking for opinions..................

Horses for courses, but I think it's the height of naff and silly.

    Lin ;)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

No, not at all. And I'm sure prospective clients could do a bit of homework and find out how much a hog roast actually costs.

A hog roast costs apx £750 if anyone is interested for around the 120 people mark.

And yes, I do think clients are daft for wasting so much money on an event that if they organised it themselves they could save thousands. But then again, they are paying for something they can't get back, time.

All I was pointing out that people will do ANYTHING for money with this event, its cashing in AGAIN, now that is tacky. I'm not sure which is worse, the people putting on this event or the people that attend it. Obviously the internet doesn't quite portray my real thoughts on this matter as you have no understanding of my tone of voice.

Keep your opinions coming, its really interesting to see what the "general public" think! I take it some of you have ordered your tickets already.
I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!

    Yep.
Thats why I don't "do" weddings and only get involved with the production side  . I tend to avoid the general public where I can, its safer for you guys and safer for me.;)

See what happens when I put in smileys? Wow it changes the whole tone of the text.

    Why be like that?

Just because some people don't think it's a bad idea and/or tacky, doesn't mean they will be queing up for tickets, does it?
