wedding dress ball of tackyness

Right, I am paid for clients to have taste and it annoys the hell out of me when venues try and make money by doing really tasteless events.

I am not going to say which venue it is as I don't want to give them publicity but there is "wedding dress ball" where brides who have gotten married are inivted to "re-live" their wedding day.

I know there is a resession on and venues need to think outside the box etc however I was really shocked at the tack level.

Please please please tell me for the love of God that you find this disturbing. It is not cute, it is tacky as hell and it is certainly not tasteful.

email read like this....

"Good Afternoon Brides and Grooms past and present!

I am delighted to tell you about a unique event here at xxxxx. The Wedding Dress Ball.

Ever wondered if you would find an opportunity to wear the one outfit that made you feel so special, so happy, so beautiful – your wedding dress! Well now you have the chance as for one special night only xxxxxxare hosting a Wedding Dress Ball, the perfect opportunity for you to get that feeling again, along with your groom, bridesmaids, friends or anyone that was their to share your special day.

Complete with wedding cake, sumptuous 3 course meal and entertainment, do you want a ticket……….’I do’!

Chances like this don’t come along often so to join us for this amazing evening please get in touch with the conference office on xxxx to secure your place early. I for one will definitely be there dancing the night away in my dress and reliving memories of my wedding day.

The first thing I thought of was Frankenstien's bride. I'm sorry right but you've had your day, get over it. Thats why you spend months planning and stressing and thousands on a photographer,. If you want to re-new your vows thats great and lovely etc, but do you really want to do it in your dress AGAIN..

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I know weddings are a licence to print money for some venues however this is taking it to a whole new low.

Anyone who thinks this is cute is going to get the rath of Tizhimi!!

"different". ... . . . . hum, that a very polite way of putting it. I just sent an email to the venue saying take me off your junk mail listings and no, I will not be attending your event of tackyness.

Its up north, its a chain of hotels but I'm not naming them!

I wouldn't go, based purely on the grammatical errors.

Oh, and it's also a rubbish idea. I wonder how many people decide to go?

Having a look on google it must be a new craze, there are a few advertised to raise money for charities

Now that you mention it..... Nah even if it was I'm keep quiet because I am not advertising this event of tack. I think the majority of weddings have too much tack as it is and this venue is just incouraging more tack. As you can tell I am shocked by this whole new low level that a venue has sunk to.

Ah, reading the link it's wedding dress or ball gown. I can't see ladies turning up in the katie Price meringues, but some wedding dresses are tasteful and many ladies have coloured ones today. So, I guess if this is the kind of attire and it's a charity event then ok.

I don't think it matters why the event is put on... if its raising money for charity or not, I think there aught to be a certain level of decorum, obviously this is lost on all the attendees of this event.
