wedding dress ball of tackyness

Each to their own, it wouldn't be my cup of tea, but I bet it will be a sell out event. I imagine a lot of brides would love the opportunity to wear their dresses again, and celebrate an anniversary at this type of event. I am not sure why it has enraged you so much? if it is not for you, don't go.

A quick google reveals this, and several others, so it seems to be a common thing for this charity.0 -
I think the lack of decorum and taste of some people. I cannot believe that the general public would really buy into this. I think its quite egotistical and self absorbant, the bride has already had their day, how many days do they want? I won't be going, no.I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0

I just find that 'creepy'
I mean it's got to be great the idea of wearing your dress again, it's the dress of your dreams but.... why do I think it's creepy? I mean it's a dress with lots of happy memories. Why should that bother me?
But it does????
Now I'm wierded out by the creeps?!?"I know that Prince Charming doesn’t come save me, we save each other and fight back to back against all comers that’s what marriage is to me. Nothing passive, no being carried off on a white steed, give me my own damn horse and lets ride into the sunset side by side." - Laurell K. Hamilton.0 -
I think i would love to wear my wedding dress out again, but i wont be, because id feel ridiculous! Also, id be looking at all the other ladies in their wonderful dresses and thinking how gorgeous they look and then that would just make me feel awful!!! lol
I can see why some people would love this, but its not for me either. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
All those brides all in one room??? :rotfl:
Think of all the blancmange dresses coming out of the box after 10-20 years and any brides that have put on weight trying to squish back into them
Sorry not my thing, but agreed each to their own!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
creepy and frankenstein's bride is what comes to my mind. Charity or no charity, it is a self absorbant ME ME ME attitude, exactly the sort of woman I wouldn't be friends with!I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0

Surely it is obvious it is not meant to recreate your wedding day? just give the dress another airing in a party atmosphere, and for charity. I can think of many much tackier things people do with their time and money. I can also think of many much tackier events that venues stage to garner funds for themselves, and not even have the excuse of it being ofr charity. If everyone has fun, it is not taken as an extension of the wedding day, and money is raised, then I can't see what is wrong with it all.
I have to ask OP are you married? have you had a bad experience of a wedding? because that is the way your OP comes across? quite venomous!!! seems there is a tale to tell?0 -

I don't understand why you say it's ME ME ME, if these people are raising funds for charity who gives a f**k if they do it in their wedding attire or stark b*ll*ck naked :rolleyes:Surely it is obvious it is not meant to recreate your wedding day? just give the dress another airing in a party atmosphere, and for charity.
