Out of curiosity -- do you plan to take your own advice?0 -

you totaly overeacted in the first instance and were rude to people, you keep coming back to stir it up a bit more. I think it was you who found it hard that people wern't all that sympathetic to you and disagreed with your opinion, why can't you take your own advice and accept it and move on?0 -

Farewell you bunch of unhelpful, self righteous effing hypocrites!
Nice, aren't you. Abuse isn't 'allowed' on MSE0 -
Ninestonecreature, glad you got some sort of compensation from the DVLA. It's totally acceptable that you were annoyed, I would be too and I think you have every right to been angry with the DVLA, what a disgusting way to treat other peoples' property. Hope you are able to get a replacement easily.0

Just think if you had needed to send it off to Admiralty House (London). Who knows what kind of stain it may have come back with. Captain Pugwash, Roger the cabin boy, Master Bates and the one i can never remember something or someboady stains .0

What the OP really wants is her original marriage certificate in the condition it was before she posted it to DVLA - and in her position, so would I.
But that is patently impossible.
Why didnt she laminate it and bear the cost of having to send it "large letter", if she deemed its aethetic appearance so important, why crease it???
Anyway, it would have come back with fingerprints from the person who processed it (unseen to the naked eye) not to mention their germs, perspiration etc so next time laminate the item then you can wipe it clean with some dettolAnd yes the lady in the avatar is me

As someone else posted in this thread, the safest thing with original documents is to avoid sending them off at all, if possible. Take them to a local office and show them there.0 -

No, ninestonecreature, I haven't forgotten the insults that were slung at you.
But, I wasn't the one throwing the insults at you.
I'm not finding it hard to deal with the fact that people disagree with me.
It's a forum, for heaven's sake.
Of course people have different viewpoints - and are entitled to air those viewpoints.
I have no problem with that at all -what I DO have a problem with is people being downright insulting when it's not warranted.
There were many other posters who deserved your wrath more than I did.
Just take a read back - and whilst you're doing that you can see how many people diagree with you.
I think it's you who are finding that difficult to deal with.0
