Well, that was easy:) Ok so it hasn't risen as much as it might have, but a first crafty taste was lovely:T

My kids love this, so do I. You can play around with the ingrediants, use less sugar, part whole wheat flour, add cinnamon or nutmeg, etc. I have also used other over-ripe fruits like pears and it turned out fantastic.

In the breadmaker bucket, put in any order:

    2-3 over-ripe bananas
    1 cup (or less) sugar
    3 tbsp veg oil
    2 eggs
    2 cups self-raising flour

Put on pizza cycle for about 5 mins - scrape down the corners with a spatula about 1/2 way through to make sure everything is mixed.

Put on bake cycle for 55 mins.

That's it - very yum especially warm with butter.

    ~Lynn ;)

 Thank you so much for this, Lynn. :T
    It worked out great!!

Especially since I've not been good today (feel like I've been through a few rounds with Mike Tyson) but when I read your post earlier this afternoon, I thought, "why not! I've got all that stuff in waiting to be used and I'll leave my BM to do the work for me!"

I didn't have any white sugar in, so I used demerara sugar and (about a cup and a bit more) and 3 bananas (all ripe and one frozen and thawed in the microwave).

Because it reminded me of making my mum's banana cake, I also added a pinch of salt and vanilla extract (to lessen the eggy smell). And next time I will use much less sugar.

My breadmaker is a Lidl one (Binfinett KH2232).
I've had this BM for say, 8 years and used to do various breads in the past and of late (because of ME-CFS/'good' day) have chosen to use this for quick cakes too (eg Wrights Chocolate Crumb Cake mix is SOOOO nice).

I used the cake setting on 1.5lb mode (12 mins mix then 65 bake), but had to put the whole bread pan into a hot oven for 10 mins so the top could finish off firming up and browning.

It came out great!!! :j :j

I'm not gonna dip into it until this evening - so I will share the discovery with others!

:D Yay for anyone who dares to/unsure to experiment with your BM.

So... Has anyone tried adapting/using your regular conventional baking recipes in your BM?

I'd do it on the dough setting for about 5 minutes and then bake for 55 minutes. Dough setting is probably similar to the pizza setting.

Just made this and it's gorgeous. Didn't put as much sugar in though - I also thought it would be too much.

Oh I'm glad someone resurrected this thread gonna give this a go tomorrow. I substitute half the sugar with a bit of treacle to make it a bit easier on the figure.:j

right, I made my one and I don't think I quite got the flour quantity right :(

Can anyone tell me how much flour in grams/ounces?

I tried googling a conversion for 1 cup and I got so many different replies in the end I just had to make a guess and I think it affected the bread.

Has anyone tried making this a pineapple bread/cake instead as I don't have any bananas and wondered if I could use pineapple instead?

I'm glad you like it - it took a bit of fiddling around with ingredients to get one that worked right.

We make it every other day - probably healthier than crisps and biscuits!

With all that sugar  Interesting enough I found a website on substituting sugar with fruit. Bananas was one of them! Reckon if we put double the amount of bananas in instead of the sugar it would work:rotfl:
