it must be a local thing cos it seems to be round here they are total idiots
ok so we get our junk mail at 11am (they never bring letters, just !!!!!) if i am lucky they come at 10:50 and i can see what assortment of !!!!! they have brought this time, usually its not worth being late for work for.
anyway today they brought a card saying something i ordered needed a signature, which means a trip to the sorting office (oh good)
i swear they are part of a never open at normal times cult, opening hours are 7am-12pm monday to saturday. nice, want something on the way home from work? no chance sonny jim.
i've got to go there tomorrow, see if they have broken or had a sneaky peak at my parcel, its happened enough times before, and no doubt once i am there i will have to wait approx 6 hours for them to understand the sound of a bell means someone at the desk, if i get there at 7am i might even be out for 12 with what i went in for, wonders will never cease. if one of their troglodytes speaks english i might ask them about stopping post for other people coming here, i am still getting letters for someone that moved out a year ago, then again there was a queue out of the door last time i went. i'm off to kiss my loved ones goodbye, by the time i get back i will look like grizzly adams
btw its the attitude of their front counter staff at sorting offices that stinks, both here and the other two local ones, and i dont provoke them either, my sarcasm stays inside cos i want the various items of junk i buy off the interwebs

i dont get your point here?,in general postie hours are 6-2 so obviously all the mail isnt going to be delivered before this time

staffing, staffing & staffing.RM wont pay for the staffing to stay open.
my own office is open 7-7 but that seems rare(big office)

speak to your postie, put your name(s) on the door.there is no system for 'stopping' mail like this.
only postie knowledge. company line is deliver as addressed

um blah blah blah is this enough letters?0 -

Got to agree with custardy here, you don't actually have a complaint!
It bemuses me how people use the word 'hate' so freely. If you really 'hate' an organisation just because they don't work to your hours, then you need to get things into perspective!Gone ... or have I?0 -
We had our postman come back at 6pm to delivery the junk mail he delivered the normal mail at 1pm , i thought it was rather odd, is this a new thing do you know Custardy ?0

We had a stand-in postie who had two parcels for me and told me my road was one of the worst he had seen for parcels as he felt he could not get into any sort of rhythm and was very late:o felt a bit bad!
I did say i think normal postie goes round with the letters first and leaves the parcels in the van on a bad day, then drops the parcels in later.
Was nice to see the light bulb go on above new postie's head
Lots of our postmen are nice, i live next door to one. He's very skinny and drinks protein shakes, i know this because i sign for them when he is at work and i sometimes hear the mixer firing up at 4amMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I don't see why people get into a lather at delivery times. We live in the sticks and mail gets delivered between 10.30am and 2pm, depending if its the regular postie or a stand in. As long as the mail gets delivered each working day I'm happy, unless they're bills of course.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You know only a minority of people will be nasty to you if your nice to them. So maybe if you go in to the sorting office with the mindset above even if you don't make scarcastic comments or complain or moan to them maybe they just pick up on your anti-royal mail vibe.
By the way you know you can have you mail redelivered when your home or to your nearest post office who probably have longer opening hours than your sorting office if it upsets you that much.0 -

TBH i can admit some on the door can be moddy/sarc'y/unhelpful
its often known as the room of doom.
most of the time its thankless
you are left on your own, with no help or relief to even get to the toilet
you will get moaned at most of the day whether on the phone or at the door
doesnt matter if you try your best.
i could tell many storys, the woman who tried to hit me with the our staff are not here to abused sign, the woman who was screaming abuse at me all the way up the car park after she left it too long to collect an RD item, numerous near physical fights with guys ( im far from a small guy so was often surprised by how many felt it was a good idea)
me personally i was/am pretty good on the door.
i try and keep busy but thats a problem in itself.take a phonecall and suddenly 5 people come in.
deal with that 5 and get grief from them as they hear the phone ringing and get grief on the phone for not answering it.
thne you have the online redelivery requests to deal with.in my own office thats can be 30+ pages a day of redeliveries.
plus you have to keep on top of out of date parcels (this is actually quite an intensive job to do)
then you have the whole problem of no support from managers.
eg customer comes in,explains problem
so you take the details, organise what to do to sort this.
say yup i'll speak to them manager who deals with it and get it sorted.
week later customer is back as manager has done nothing.
however does the customer believe this or think i havent bothered my !!!!?
one i had which was a nightmare was a small business customer who came in every day to collect their mail. they were actually snooty as hell and basically didnt want a postie in their offices  but thats not the issue.
at least 2-3 times aweek the postie on the duty would take the mail out. so i would get grief for it.
every time i go to the manager and have a go.now our office is a converted warehouse so its physically impractial to be going up chasing posties about this stuff. beside this im nobodys boss in the office,we are all the same level and the well paid(IMO) managers are there to sort this
no excuse but as i said its a thankless task0 -
If you read the card,it allows you to get the parcel redelivered-so you don't have to go down there yourself.0
