Although thinking about it I received a letter on Tuesday that was posted out first class had a postmark of 14th September so I am beginning to wonder what else is lurking out there. Even so I don't really have any problems with Royal Mail since I moved from Bury to Castleford.

It does get on my wick though when everyone kicks their toys out and goes on strike, postmen, bus drivers, bin men in Leeds who haven't emptied bins for a month. If it were up to me I would get rid of them all and take on some of the millions of unemployed who would give anything for a job to pay their bills.

I think your find that Leeds City Council are going hive off the cleansing department to a private company and will use the strikes as an excuse not to accept a bid from the current management and bin men.

I didn't know that but if it's a private company there's more chance of getting the job done. So the management and bin men have actually shot themselves in the foot so to speak.

great idea,at the same time you could drop the wages and conditions
    go part time only
    introduce 1 hour contracts
oh wait RM already do that and people moan about not getting regular posties etc
    i see your logic

as i have said before many start at RM,few stay

    I've been Money Tipped!
My regular postie is lovely. He can cope when he knocks on the door and hears me 'singing' to little bear, 'there's somebody at the door, there's somebody at the door...' The expressions on the faces of the non regular posties, however, are worth framing.

My local 'where you collect the parcel' office do not answer the phone at all. Because they have unplugged it, and I understand why, if there is only one person in a busy office with counter and phone.

Due to strikes (which I sympathise with) I received an appointment for little bear with a specialist a fortnight after it happened.

On Monday I plan to send off all parcels necessary for Christmas, in order to try and get past before the strike.

I wouldn't drop the wages at all that would just be silly, just employ people who actually want to work for the money not complain and strike about it. The money at RM might not be the best in the world but i'm sure it's a damn site better than JSA.

On that note as well I would employ people who could read numbers and be able to tell the difference between numbers such as 24 and 44.

Im pretty p'd of with the PO at the mo :(
I paid for 3 month mail redirection and so far hospital appointments and other mail have still been delivered to my old address to the point where my postie knocked on the door and told my teenage son to tell me to ring the po and change my address with them as he was sick of having to fetch the mail over himself ( we only moved a couple of streets away )
Unfortunately my son wasnt aware of the redirection or he would have told him we already had !!!
Rang the PO and told them if it happens again I want the money back as i have paid for something i am not getting!!
  • And yet they expect sympathy and public support when they decide to go on strike. I have no synpathy whatsoever, striking hurts small businesses and individuals, Royal Mail won't unduly suffer.
