Im pretty p'd of with the PO at the mo :(
I paid for 3 month mail redirection and so far hospital appointments and other mail have still been delivered to my old address to the point where my postie knocked on the door and told my teenage son to tell me to ring the po and change my address with them as he was sick of having to fetch the mail over himself ( we only moved a couple of streets away )
Unfortunately my son wasnt aware of the redirection or he would have told him we already had !!!
Rang the PO and told them if it happens again I want the money back as i have paid for something i am not getting!!

so the postie was redirecting the mail for you anyway? seems like a helpful postie given they can only deal withthe redirections they get

small businesses are really going to hurt with the strike as ROyal Mail is the cheapest option under 2kg (and tbh, and no disrespect to Custardy, I think we have the best delivery office in the country in Burnley, individually they are great)..but it seems the higher management in both Royal Mail and the CWU are making a big hash of sorting this out fairly

The more people that sign, the more pressure on the gvt to intervene to ensure it is ended fairly

We have a lovely postie. He must be in his sixties. He told me he was going to be off for a couple of weeks but if we get any letters for the previous owner (who died) then hold onto the letters and he'd pass them onto his daughter. The lady across the road lets him park his car in her drive too. He asked us if he could climb over our (low) wall into next doors garden, as we have long drives and it would save him some time.

We are a country of moaners but only have ourselves to blame. We vote for someone like Blair ( who gets into power with the help of CWU money). He wants to be The President of Europe so he lets European postal companies cherry pick the best parts of the business . The Post Office lose money so they cut staff. The postman’s round is then made bigger. Then the moaners start… “ Our post is late today…..what a rubbish service….sack the lot of them ….blah blah blah” As usual
Just a country of moaners who kick the little man who never see the bigger picture.

what because my office is open 12 hours a day?

I run a business at home, my Royal Snail Postman gets mail to my house around Lunch Time.

Why is Parcel Force and Royal Mail two differing bodies.

Why does Parcel Farce say they will collect goods from my house, then do not bother to come and collect orders?

    DHL are far better.

As for going on strike, perhaps this is the final nail in the coffin for any reasonable business that uses Royal Snal for delivery. And it does not alter the fact that in 2007, I watched as the posties shoved a 'We're Sorry you were out' note through my letter box, instead of ringing the bell. Lo and behold when I rang up, the parcel was in the sorting office, but I could not get there that day, as it closed at 12.

which parts am i expected to answer?

you get your post at lunchtime, and?
postmen deliver mail, not everyone can be at the start of the delivery.
as i i have said before yet some cant grasp the concept, when you start later and have a longer duty you finish later.
so mail is later. not rocket science

RM runs many seperate parts.by seperating PF it frees them from many of the shackles RM letters has
google any courier you like and see complaints about them

i remember back in 2007 a manager getting hauled over the coals in Edinburgh's Brunswick road delivery office.
he was instructing posties to take out cards and deliver them as they didnt have the staff to cover the duties.
who would be at fault there........?

Going off thread slightly, I had to laugh at that rather repulsive Dave Ward on TV last night talking about the postal dispute. He reckoned that they had public support - yeah right, what's all that about then? I think he has been walking round with his fingers in his ears going la la la la la la la

Don't panic, Custardy - I'll answer this one!

On your 1st point Custardy is correct. The businesses are seperate so that Parcelforce can operate competitively in an open market. RM Letters are still bound by the Universal Service Obligation (USO). The USO means that RM have to provide a Next Day (1st Class) service to anywhere in the UK, including Highlands & Islands, for a single price. However, their 'competitors' can pick which areas they will cover (mainly large towns/cities), what type of mail they will handle (mainly Business to Business - B2B) and charge as much or as little as the market will allow. PF does not have this restriction and operates a similar pricing structure to the rest of the market.

Second point - Have you asked the depot why they have not collected your parcel(s)? Was it a one-off or is it a regular occurence? If you would like to PM me with your rough location, I may be able to get you some contact numbers and names for your local depot.

As for your third point - well, it would be unprofessional for me to comment :lipsrseal
