You people need to put this into context.

    HTH.
I don't have to do anything. As I said it is an offence, that's s stone cold fact. Clearly the police are sufficiently concerned enough to be taking this further.

But there's a world of differance between helping a child, and attacking a stranger and cutting off their hair.

Just as compressing someones chest can save their life, but doing it randomly to a stranger is assult.

You people need to get a grip.

    The question Dave.

"do you think that the person who trimmed the toddler hair should be charged with child abuse and common assult, and that the nursery should be closed down and presumably the owners should be faced with some "compensation" claim?"

    In your own time....

Ok Dave,I see you are unable to answer the question I will therefore reply to your question first. Then the general way of things is you reply to mine.

The person should be charged with whatever the CPS say they should be charged with, alternativley given a warning as they see fit.
Should the nursery be closed down? What a ridiculous question.No.BuUt if its felt the nursery should be addressing management issues, they should be doing so.
Should the owners be faced with a compensation claim.Maybe-maybe not.Personally I couldnt say unless I was a lawyer. My personal feelings on compensation are that each case is different. This is where you answer dave.

As we don't know the full facts in regards to what charges are being brought I wouldn't want to comment as to what happens to the child minder, like you say its up to the CPS. The fact that there's no criminal intent may be in her favour.

However, I'd take the view that if an establishment can't follow the strict rules and guidelines in place with regards to looking after children, particularly infants and babies, and are prepared to lie about this sort of incident then I'm afraid they have no place being in the business of childcare. If that means closing them down then so be it.

So you are saying that a nursery that lies to a parent about something they have done to a child, without the parents permission, is without a shadow of doubt, a safe, and well-managed establishment where you would be happy to place your own child,or recommend others do the same?
Dave could YOU answer that yourself.

    The question Dave..

Oh dear.......I'll pop my head above the parapet. I think Dave has a point it all needs to be kept in perspective.

The hair cutting is a bit of a no no but hardly worth writing home about the lying would be the thing that would get me annoyed but I would probably just remove the child.

As in you people who show concern for the wellbeing of their children.

I think the fact that an establishment such as this can allow breaches of childcare rules, and more importantly breaches of trust, like this to happen and then attempt to cover it up allows the OP to be suspicious enough to get the authorities involved so they can be properly investigated. What happens next is up to the relevant authorities.
