As we don't know the full facts in regards to what charges are being brought I wouldn't want to comment as to what happens to the child minder, like you say its up to the CPS. The fact that there's no criminal intent may be in her favour.

However, I'd take the view that if an establishment can't follow the strict rules and guidelines in place with regards to looking after children, particularly infants and babies, and are prepared to lie about this sort of incident then I'm afraid they have no place being in the business of childcare. If that means closing them down then so be it.

    Totally agree Neil.

Yes-the hysteria has to be proportionate to the crime. If the child had been hit or assaulted, fair enough-very serious crime indeed but cutting a bit of hair off-surely it does not need the entire police force. No wonder we cant get any coppers for serious crimes.they are all investigating serious criminal assaults such as somebody sniping a bit of hair off.

So you'd say just ignore it then and don't involve the authorities. Who's to say that this incident wasn't the tip of the iceberg and maybe it could be systematic of more serious incidents. Obviously the police and CPS have made the decision that this and maybe other incidents are serious enough to involve the courts but if it was down to people like you then we'd never get to hear about these nurseries until something really serious happens like toddlers ending up in hospital with broken limbs as in the recent case in Nottinghamshire.

The nursery have admitted that they were in the wrong and apologised. There is a reason why they cut the hair off.Now the paranoid and conspiracy theorists crawl out of the woodwork screaming broken bones child abuse !!!!!phile. Get a grip.
  • They don't sound too safe..... Have they not heard of soap and water? If they still can't get it off, leave it alone. Surely the type of paint children use would be easy to get out of hair and clothes anyway.

I think it's just stupid that they would have to cut her hair, why not just use a bit of soap and water.

My they don't sound too safe comment was sort of everything else, then covering it all up. I guess I should have said, "They're very shady." instead.

    They lied.

There was NO reason to cut the childs hair.

    They are incompetent.

What else do they lie about to cover their tracks?

They just cut her hair to get some paint out, not a big deal.

    It's not assult or abuse.

    What's wrong with this country??

Can't believe the people who see nothing wrong with what the nursery has done.
Read all the posts. Obvious stupidity in cutting the child's hair without parental knowledge or permission. They didn't even do a good job or let the parents know there was a problem with paint in the hair in the first place! Just sent her home with badly cut hair and no explanation or communication. Idiots! Obvious general incompetence and LIARS too!
Doesn't bode well for any other children that attend that nursery.

There's no conspiracy theory coming from me, all I'm saying is the Nursery has acted pretty appallingly and compounded matters by lying so the OP had every right to contact the necessary authorities, as would most concerned parents have done. The authorities would have done ther own investigations and must have found something serious enough to involve the courts.

I can see where Dave is coming from. This is indeed not a nice thing what the nursery has done but for police to take it seriously and devote so much time to it.No wonder there are none around when serious crimes occur.

The police are probably not around because they are made to do truckloads of stupid courses and paperwork to do with statistics, rather than being sent out on the beat as they should be.
Not because they take seriously reports of stupid, dishonest people being in charge of children!
You obviously have a general axe to grind that you apply to every thread and situation.
