Thanks everyone I am most definately pleased with myself as I have NEVER cooked from scratch before, I use to think that home cooking was adding meat to a jar or packet of sauce and this is definately most more rewarding

Reverbe - that use to be mine and OH excuse, but since we've had our DS 8 months ago we don't want him growing up eating junk all the time and we really have got to lead by example, plus weaning him is easier (and cheaper) if he can just eat what we eat

Homeaway - Thanks for the receipe I'll definately try it, I don't like custard but my DS loves the ambrose banana custard, could I make that just by substituting the vanilla essence for banana or would I add it in addition to it??

BTW - I have about 4/5 peaches that are begining to look past it, can anyone think of something that I can make with them?

    Thanks

    Hi Stokegal,

Well done with all the cooking - this OS thing is addictive. I start looking for semi-off looking food in other people's houses now!

What about something like peach cobbler or peach (instead of pineapple) upside down cake? Or you could just chop them and freeze them till inspiration strikes - I do this with plums quite a lot.

What is mushroom and spinach mash? Sounds lovely!

That's great to read Stokegal. WELL DONE YOU!

So many people make the excuse of tired and no time - rubbish. I sat and had this conversation with a friend a few weeks ago - and i got him into a corner with it. He has plenty of time, just can't be bothered.

I also think it's admirable caring what DS eats. I was out with a friend and child on Sunday and we went to Kentucky (We had went to see Toy story 3d but it was sold out, he was crying, i was hungover, it seemed the easiest option). Now, I NEVER eat rubbish like that but had had a bad few days and wanted comfort.
He wouldn't eat his chicken without putting salt on it - used the whole sachet up, then wanted another! *insert vomiting smiley* His Mum was there so it's not my place to say anything but I was secretly disgusted. When I have kids , they won't even know what salt is if I have anything to do with it! So , rant over - I am just pleased to hear a parent care what their child eats

How did the mash freeze? I really need to do a big day of batch cooking myself!

I'm sure the Godparents were impressed!

Having lurked in this thread for a while and read so many useful threads I decided to try my hand at bulk cooking... any type of cooking is normally a challenge for me... i could burn water...

I've now also become like the food police and wont let OH throw any food away, so I cooked a roast yesterday and am now making stock from the carcass (again for the first time) today to use in a chicken and mushroom pie for tonight's tea :j:j

    Well done :j
Just caught the cat laying on the top :rotfl:
