OS Daily Thread - TUESDAY 6th October

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 6th October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning all

Jayne - I just wanted to say that my OH and I are still thinking of you and little George and that we are so so sorry for your tragic loss. As someone already said, it's frustrating only being part of your online family as I know any one of us would drop everything and be right there for you if we could be. And thank you for the pm. xx

Onto my stuff: Tristan is not well. I don't understand American Drs, I really don't.. Seems to me they will keep feeding you drugs as long as you pay without even checking to see how you are dealing with them.

Managed to harvest lots of red peppers off my plants yesterday. The indoor one has been totally neglected for about a week but all the peppers are ripe now. The plant is only about 12 inches tall and I have had four full sized peppers and 8 mini ones.

My OS-iness today will be to play with the new craft bits that arrived yesterday (well, surely it's more OS to make cards than just to buy - that's my excuse anywaygiggle.gif) I caved in and bought some sealing wax and stamps for my christmas cards and just need to check it's working OK. :p Oh and to prep some spicy chicken wings for dinner.

I have my OT coming today to discuss the problems I had last week when one of the managers of the homehelp company shouted at me on the phone. I hate complaining or making a fuss but this time I have to.

BM is on, and so is the TD today as it finally rained yesterday and I have the sheets to dry.

Tru and Molly - I am sorry your teenagers are being such pains
Haribo - Hugs honey - thanks for the chicken pics, they were fab
Flutterby - I love the sofa, it must look great.
MicheH - Well done for feeling so good about yourself and your OS ways!
Anniestar - hugs to you honey, I felt so upset for you yesterday to read about that woman - have pmed you.
Penpin - I love the sound of your pjs!
mrs_mix - Nice to see you posting hon

Today might be a good day to tell someone special that you love them, as you can never say it too often. Offering warm gentle HShuggies.gif for anyone who wants one!

    Morning all,
Not been around for a couple of weeks as been really
    ill with the dreaded virus.
Dd started with it on Thursday last week and is only just
    coming out of it.
Plenty to do, just need the energy to match, not got much with
    FM:rolleyes:
Going to use some left over lamb up today from Sunday for a curry
and use a 4p sauce on it, also going to make some gluten free Naan
breads with it as i haven't made them for ages.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning Everyone
First of all my heartfelt condolences to Cranky and all the family affected by the sad loss, words certainly feel inadequate, just to let her know we are all here for her, while going through a range of emotions over the coming days/weeks/months. :grouphug:

Apologies for not keeping the travel log going, but had connection problems due to the horrendous rain/thunder storms they had had here before we arrived, caused by the Gota Fria, and now have just managed a PAYG connection, though investigating a non-contract ASDL.;)

We are being OS though, and only eaten out once since our arrival, a little light housework, 2 loads of washing, cross-stitch, tapestry, reading and chilling. I will mention very quietly that it is 30deg hot and sunny.:o

The trip over the Pyrenees was good, we went through a 8km long tunnel, and the autumn colours were great.

    Take care DG

Thanks everyone. I'm up early with Grumpy the house elf who decided that 4:30am was a good time to wake up today. As I didn't get to sleep until around 3am, I wasn't that impressed...

I do appreciate all your kind words and thoughts. A lot of my "life" friends don't understand what I do of an evening tapping away on this keyboard, but right now I wouldn't be without my online family and friends.

The MOD welfare officer and MOD liason officer have both been in touch and have promised to call me today as soon as they know anything. In the meantime, I suppose I had better start making some "to do" lists.

I haven't told George yet. I need a few days with him still at school to get my head round it all. I will tell him closer to the weekend, when I can keep him home with me.

    Thanks again xxx

  • Cranky-We are all here for you no matter what! If you need any help/advice with anything, please just ask away and we will all do our best to help.

Try and grab a couple of hrs once little one is at school as it may help you to focus better with some well needed rest. Take all the help you can from your "life" friends and let them take some of the worry from you.
We are all thinking of you.

    Hugs & kisses.

    Morning everyone,

Cranky, we haven't "met" but I was very shocked to read your news and I feel heart sick for you. You must be reeling. I'll be thinking of you in the days to come. xx
