PPI claim against Welcome Underwriters

Has anyone had any success with the underwriter route? Welcome don't seem to want to answer their phones at the moment so I can find out exactly who underwrites their loans. Is the company who administers the insurance different to the one who underwrites?

I have an insurance complaint in at the moment but for rebate issues and its the actual insurer that mine is against. I hope someone will come along and explain the administrator/underwriter thing cause I have no idea actually but do understand what you mean. FOS had all my paperwork and they wrote to who they said were responsible. It would perhaps be better if you asked the FOS. They will perhaps find out for you.

It is with the FOS. Had quite a shirty reply from them. In my letter I said Direct Group were the underwriters but FOS tell me they are not. It seems FOS expect me to find out and Welcome are not answering their phone! Help!

Soem help they are then. Yes I know what you mean about FOS:rolleyes:. I have been told one thing in July in the it would be 3 months maximum for my complaint (they wrote last year for me) and then now been told it could take up to another year. I think they really don't know what they are doing yet with these types of complaints and apparently they said they are still in talks and lots of legal issues etc etc.

I wonder if anyone on the welcome thread could help? What does your policy state other than Direct Group?

You are not alone with the underwriting complaint. Seems someone on CAG spoke to FOS 14th Spetember and this is what they wrote

spoke to FOS today all ppi not covered by FOS taken out before 2005 unless a loan with a highstreet bank but they are talking to the underwriters to see if they will take responsiblitey. what is going on?!


Seems from this poster that they are trying to get underwriters to take complaints but nothing solid yet.

Been on phone to FOS and welcome. It would appear Direct Group are the underwriters so FOS are eating their words! FOS going to take it up with them and thye have 8 weeks. We shall see, it is quite an old loan
