Your experience at Asda seems to be at odds with all the problems members are currently having at Asda - see the various threads about supervisors being called using more than 5 coupons etc!

Yeah I know - I have been using self scan, not sure that makes any difference. Used coupons in four seperate transactions -luckily there was a shift change in-between but still only spent about 30 mins total in store. I was lucky today and I was lucky on Saturday - let's hope it continues until all my coupons have been used. Nothing beeped as I put them through (I even used 4 in one transaction) but when I totalled bill and paid the odd pence it did ask for supervisor but CSA just pressed a button on her console and hey presto. I feel self scan is the way to go.
Hope that helps you peeps out there.

Well done Annie, you do what alot of people would like to do but don't necessarily have the confidence to do. Your savings are testament to how lucrative it can be.

I still haven't tried my local Waitrose, still have a bundle of olay vouchers to use and have a new Morrisons/Toys R Us to try out within the next couple of days. Guess I will be busy !

Hey Welshy - just go for it. All you have to lose is a few blushes if they say "you can't do that!!!" I just act confident and tell cashier that you have a "ton" of coupons and tell her you have checked with supervisor and he/she said it was ok (which I did). Morrisons are a bit harder - you have to buy product so it's worth going in for 2/3 olay products amongst a bit of other shopping. I just chat to checkout people, have a laugh and as yet have had no problems.
However saying that I am finding Tesco are tightening up on their coupon allowance - I have been stopped twice now from using lots of small coupons 20/30p, once at normal checkout and another time at the self scan. I tend to find young lad who appears bored and this normally works. Last night I bought eggs, loo roll etc total £4.85 and only paid 23p he took all my coupons. So it really isn't uniform across the board. I tend to shop little and often so I can get the maximum amount off my bill. I will drop into tesco express if I pass one and buy 8 rolls of loo roll or something else that I can store and use as many coupons as I can 9/10 I get them for a few pence, my thinking is that I was passing anyway and they don't go off!!!!!
Anyway I have chatted too long good luck and go for it:T
  • Thanks Annie for the encouragement but as I'm full up with the flu, I'm taking a break from shopping. Also with 4 children and working I do find it difficult to get to the shops to do little shops. I tend to do one big shop weekly and ask them to take what they can.

and if I was really analysing it I could say that my current mystery shopping role has put me off the retail sector as a whole !!! and I never thought I would say that.

I wouldn't mind knowing what happened with the mystery shopping, I saw you posted a few comments, but wondered, so if you don't mind!! (I'm too nosey for my own good, I know this!) :rotfl:

  • Well went to Tescos today, decided to go to one I never ever shop at so took 30 minutes to get there. It was massive it makes my local Tescos look like a corner shop LOL. Apparently it is the 2nd largest tescos in the UK and staff have been known to go around on skates !

Anyway, as we walked in, we were offered a cup of tea and a choccie biscuit courtesy of a mcvities biscuit promotion, I did my shopping and as we went up and down the aisles we sampled - fresh gala apples, cheese, danone yoghurts, terry's chocolate orange and as we left the store I had a nice cup of tea and another choccie biscuit. Even if I am not handing over the vouchers I am saving on my food bill LOL. I was actually surprised at the number of sampling opportunities in one day, in my local store I am lucky if its once a week !

Anyway, I saved some money using vouchers, although some would not scan even though I had bought the items, one was a £6 off a £30 spend on clothing and the other one £10 off a £50 spend on clothing. Both of which I did. Additionally, 650 points of assorted clubcard vouchers would not scan through despite the fact that I had bought the items purposely.

Off I trotted to CS and the lovely lady added my points manually and reimbused me the £16 for the vouchers that did not scan.

So a quick recap, I had some nice savings, amassed 2,500 clubcard points by buying the required products which I will use and my daughter had a free feed ! RESULT !

I'm happy with that (ooh - forgot I also found 2 till spits worth 130 points and wombled 48 points onto my card)
