When was this??? I used loads of coupons last night and had no problems:confused: there was a delay in my change coming but I didn't even look as self scan operator she just pressed a button and my change came and I was on my way.

    Hi Annie021063,

This was yesterday. Perhaps my local Asda have programmed something specifically to their self scan machines. After all the GSM in my local store is a complete a*se. I say this having spoken to him and other members of staff who don't particularly like him either.
    Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
    Boots points: £0.28
    Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)
    Mutual points: 3417 (redeemed 8250)
    Rpoints:redeemed 28925 points)Cashbag:£8.91(£20)

My local Asda's seemed to have programmed something to their self scan tills. Spent approx £20, used 2 x 60p off coupons and 2 x £1.19 free butter coupons which I did buy after I put my money in something went on the screen and my change didn't come out. Member of staff had to type something in there and I saw on the screen a message along the lines of having exceeded coupon usage. The cashier said the same thing to me. Only then after she typed in a few buttons did I get my change.

I hardly used a large amount of coupons and I did buy the 2 butters so I was annoyed at this new thing they have programmed in the self scans. Guess I'd better stick to using 10% or less so I don't get a member of staff called over. Sigh...

This happened to me in 2 local asdas, but the supervisor just came over and pressed approve and it was done!
  • I think all us coupon users should complain to Asda about the waiting around for supervisors to over ride the till when more than 5 coupons are used. I came across a new rule today, that you could not use more than 3 of the same coupon. I did not argue as i had 4 coupons for the £5 olay stuff. I bought 4 packets of wipes at 4.98 but if i complained she may have realised they were for superdrug. i went straight to customer services to return the one i could not use the coupon for and then next time i am passing will return the other 3 and if any jobsworth askes about the coupons that were used i will say they were for the cider i bought, 4 boxes at £6, ready for xmas as that should explain the coupon usage. You do get some jobsworths checking the receipts!

On another good note I went into a Tesco I dont normally use as it is a bit away from me, spent £44, handed in numerous coupons and paid £4.41!!!! i was well impressed.
    Just about to give up!
  • Going onto the subject of TEsco and clubcard points I thought i was doing well at just over 8000. How did you manage all those Welshy??? I know you can get a lot of points with wines and home deliveries but there are not that many in store with extra 999 points when you buy certain things. I usually buy the item and then return it at a later point.

  • Hiya tracey89 I just shop using a combination of money off vouchers to get good discounts and key items to boost the points. I never use home deliveries, it's much better to shop in store. I think I have only ever done one home delivery shop and that was one too many !

I don't like buying items and returning them later but I will give you an example of how I boost my points. I had a till spill voucher for 750 points on a £30 spend on women's clothing, I also had a till spill voucher for 500 points on a £15 spend on men's clothing. I spent £50, I used the blue clothing vouchers and a brown £6 voucher in combination, also picking up a £5 of kids clothing which also had 20% off.

From my initial spend it came down to just £18 and I gained 1250 points.

Mr Welshy despairs at times though ! in my shopping bag he picked up a bakers dog treat which cost me 60p and said "but we haven't got a dog !" LOL. I bought it because, one I can donate it to the dog's home and 2 the bonus voucher was worth £2.00 at MFI so £1.40 in profit for me ! oh happy days

    Welshy x
;) I am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL ;)

Yes, it scans fine. Go buy some and scoff the choccy too! Don't miss the 2 separate £1 coupons (1 attached to the choccy and 1 near the front of the mag).

See the magazine vouchers thread started by MBN for updates of the best magazines, including what coupons are in them and how much they cost. I check this regularly and posters there can always confirm what scans in Tesco, someone has always tried! Link to that thread here:

Had a great shop yesterday and found a lovely SA. Handed him a handful of vouchers and apologised. He said don't worry he has one lady who puts each item of her shopping through individually and uses a voucher for each item. I looked amazed and said you do that he said yes. Know who I will be going to everytime he is working.
  • I have had great success lately with some Radox coupons I found on ebay (worth 50p each) at Waitrose and Tescos. At Waitrose they run through the tills like cash, which has been nice as the SAs had been told be very careful with coupons after receiving too many from Olay.

Can anyone recommend any other coupons to purchase off of ebay that work well?
    I :heart2: Waitrose
