  • Also I see it as a bonus initally I used to budget for total spend minus vouchers but now I do not.

That's really good advice Welshy, I think initially I did overspend when using vouchers and then was stuffed when they would only accept one or whenever their latest policy was!!

I look on my vouchers as cash which can always be spent another day, but only on things we really need.

With the Tesco H&B vouchers, I always feel I should hide the toiletries amongst other shopping, but I have to be really careful, as I've end up making loads of shopping trips and we've now got so many packets of wholewheat pasta I've got nowhere to store it!!!

Thanks for your comments Welshy, I agree with you, cashiers vary hugely in experience and willingness to help us. In this paticular case the cashier called a supervisor and they both agreed that in the 15 years they'd been working there or whatever it was, the policy had always been 10% only and they had to stock the product.

I would take it up with head office, since it clearly contradicts what seems to be Waitrose official policy, but what with being a member of the slatterns' club and all I don't think I can be bothered :D
  • Regarding Waitrose, I have the policy printed off from Head office but when I phoned my local store to confirm this I swear they thought I was making it up as I went along. They said to do my shopping, then when I hand over the vouchers the cashier would call the supervisor who would then decide what was acceptable or not .................. um I don't think so, rather stick with being followed around Tescos by crabby supervisors LOL

Asda told me they have a new coupon policy only five coupons in any single transation and no single voucher to be over £3. You don't have to buy the item though.

It only goes to show... When I first tried out my local Waitrose coupon policy and the CS assistant was called over, I'd already told the cashier that I thought the policy was unlimited coupons as long as waitrose stocked the item. It was the CSA who ended up insisting: no we don't need to even stock the item, we take all coupons regardless! They even took the ones Tescos wouldn't because they hadn't scanned at Tescos(Waitrose didn't use the scanner, just totted up the amount of coupons handed over and half were internet printed ones!) I'll certainly be going back but they are so much more expensive than Tescos it will only be to buy what my local Tesco Metro doesn't stock. I'm in a locality where there are about seven or eight supermarket/convenience stores and ultimately, with the amount of competition, I suspect they're just happy to be getting my custom. I've had a very different experience when I've gone to my out-of-town large Tescos and they know I've probably made a special trip and I'm a captive audience, they've either refused my vouchers or been really sniffy and said a max of 5.

I saved £4 on an £11 shop at asda today using the £1 Kimberley Clark Vouchers.

Not quite as good as waitrose yesterday where i paid 82p for a £28 shop!

I had a great shop in Tescos today. Spent £45 after BOGOF £30 then used £10 of H+B vouchers and then another 8 pounds of other vouchers so paid £11 in total.
Also been a great week for collecting vouchers. On Wednesday whilst in Sainsbury a lady had a stall with cow and gate fruit puree on it and the chance to win vouchers. You chose a card and put it under a red film it said if you had won or not and I won a voucher for £5 off Cow and Gate products in Sainsbury's. Then today in Tescos there was a Dowe Egberts stand outside with samples of coffee and leaflets for 30p off the coffee not Tescos specific valid till 31 /12. A quick scout around trolleys and I had 10 of them so another £3 off my shopping in the future. Always worth checking out these stands
  • oh ella2002 you have reminded me will PM you now

I had a great shop today there is a glitch on the quality street so I got 6 tins of Quality street total was £47.88 minus discounts of £27.00 = £20.88 so effectively cost me £3.48 a tin.

Off the £20.88 the SA also accepted £11 worth of money off vouchers so paid £9.88 for my 6 tins of quality street - that should keep me going until tomorrow lunchtime LOL - Welshy x
