Depends on the branch, as always. My local Metro takes one coupon per transaction, I only use it to buy one or two items when I run out, or to buy multiple newspapers when there is a good coupon in that day's issue.

Then I hand over my highest value coupon, or split my shopping into 2 transactions (second lot for my Mum ;)) and hand over one for each lot.

Just ask the cashier, can you scan any of my coupons please, maybe hold out three, they may take them all!

I wouldn't ask at an Express though, they don't even know about R&R (until I remind them!) let alone taking coupons without buying the product.

thanks coupon mad i`ll try next time:beer:

  • Sorry this is a new concept to me. Can you just clarify? You can print off coupons or use coupons for things that you haven't bought and they will take them off your bill in Tesco or Asda?? Do you have to go through self serve?

sorry if I am coming across as thick, but would sooner do it here than in the supermarket!!
  • SkinLESS chicken... "Willow Farm" that is Welshy and we all know Tesco have "donated" enough of that stuff to members of this forum over the last couple of days... so who's laughin' now? so just take a good look at your mountain of Health & Beauty stockpile and think how much it has all been worth it!

Yes I must say the time has come for me to stop mentioning my savings and just refer to them as "considerable amounts". I went to tescos twice today and did not use a single voucher - gasp ! I even did not buy any of the new health and beauty items - even bigger gasp !!!

I hope that my experiences/stories and advice have motivated the voucher user in lots of the people on here. I think it has from the PM's I have received which is good.

However, today I have become seriously disillusioned with Tescos yet again, after the problems in my local store I am completely and utterly fed up of Tescos.

Today, went to the store bought a paper, evil supervisor rushed over to colleague to gossip about me (believe me I am not paranoid) then shouted something across ..........I didn't give her the satisfaction so I left the store.

Got to work phoned the Manager to complain, Manager was busy - some FIVE hours later I phoned again, oh yes someone will phone you back, did they like hell they did.

OH says drop it but seen as this has been rumbling on with her since 28th June I am getting seriously irritated by her behaviour. Is she worth wasting my time on another complaint, do you know I am not so sure anymore.

How did this start ? well I tried to redeem vouchers against non-purchased items as per the policy that their HO sent me,

    hi again welshy

Yes, you can print off 'free money':T

...but it depends if the store will take internet coupons. Yes you can use coupons to buy other products, most cashiers in Tesco, Asda and Waitrose will not bat an eyelid if you offer some.

I never go through self-service, I think you are more likely to be watched by a jobsworth supervisor and you will feel hassled trying to scan them and shove them in the coupon-hole, so to speak!

Here's a recent thread about coupons where I mentioned some places to look to get hold of them:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=3158976#post3158976

Still not sure? Do a Chat Forum search (above) for 'coupons' and read as many threads as you need to give you confidence that what you will be doing is OK and, indeed, is accepted policy of the 3 Supermarkets named. If you want look through some of my old posts where the word coupon is mentioned (just about every other one, lol!) or pm me if you have any q's.

Then the only problem you may face is if you meet the 'coupon-police' (stroppy Customer service staff or supervisors who think they know better than their own HO policy). I've met them, Welshy's met them, but we still use coupons (just in other stores).

Try it, you will never look back and you will save loads!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Shopped in Waitrose for the first time since I knew about coupons. The till operator was new and didn't know the coupon policy so she called CS rep over. He confirmed their policy was to accept any number of coupons regardless of whether they store stocked the items. All coupons readily accepted, incl internet printed ones, without quibble.
