They would only take one voucher from me last week and the SA insisted that it's always been this way even though I had used a handful the week before. She even shouted across to the assistant on the other side to check and she said the same
I'll still try again tomorrow thoughOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

I've have had a song and dance with my local Tescos, over them accepting 3 vouchers on a shop, unique vouchers which were in date, the supervisor was horrible, so I complained, she then on my next visit shouted over from the next till asking if I had made a complaint with HO, the next time she basically followed me around the store. Numerous telephone messages from tesco CS being very sympathetic and understanding. From my local store ZILCH - I know the manager is aware but he could have had the courtesy to phone me and update me - I have received nothing.
So I sent the Chairman of Tescos a letter - I have lots of vouchers but will stay clear of voucher usage at this one now - as always though Tesco is inconsistent.
The CS HO lady said the bigger the store the more chance of voucher acceptance and bascially each Manager is free to set their own rules on voucher use in store. So clear as mud !

in my local asdas they will accept 10%of your bill in vouchers. I must admit i tend to put in 2 high value items like bedding to up my shopping bill up, pay by credit card and then return the items within a week for a refund.
in my local tescos usually up to half your bill. again i usually up my bill with high priced items so i can use more coupons.
i have been know to leave my trolley full of shopping on two occasions when some jobsworth has had an argument about vouchers. i do not see vouchers /coupons as a necessity off my shopping but an advantage of shopping in these stores. however, i do expect the SA to stick to the rules that have always surrounded handing coupons in and not making the rules up to suite themselves.
i have tried scanning in out of date vouchers that i forgot to hand in at the self scan in Asda without problem but do not go through the self scan tills with a big trolley load of shopping as i do not think they are designed for big trolley loads.i have not tried the self scans in Tesco as i do think i am followed round a certain tesco due to having had 3 R&R's (total about £75)the past and always find that the cashier on the till i go to has to go on her lunch/tea break when i get to the front of the queue and a supervisor serves me. i am trying to figure out how to write a nice letter to the Manager about that one but dont want to risk being banned from Tesco as i would be really inconvenienced if i was so now i try to go for R&Rs when i am away from home caravanning!!!
we do have a Waitrose that has opened up near me but i have not tried it out with handing in coupons.Just about to give up!0 -
I went to my local large Tesco the other evening at 10.30pm as we had run out of milk & bread etc. Pleasantly surprised! Usually they accept just 5 coupons, whatever the total shop, unless I find a young lad who will scan loads.
That evening the tills were all 'manned' by women so I chose a friendly-looking one for my £12 shop and offered my coupons, saying, 'is there a maximum amount of vouchers you can take please.....'
Had hardly finished the sentence before she happily took them all and said 'Yes love, I expect they will all go through'. Hey presto, bill went down to just 75p!! The other customers behind me were all nudging each other but looked friendly, so I gave them a big grin and said, 'now you will all be saving coupons like I do!'
Can't always shop in the evening but staff were so friendly it's worth it if you get to the end of a month and have some vouchers close to expiry to use up.

We've just moved to a completely different end of the country and I was initially a bit worried about using vouchers (they were tightening up on voucher use where we used to live, but at least I knew staff that were good at accepting vouchers). Happy to report that so far I haven't paid full price for any of my food shopping
The local Asda have the 10% rule that I was used to anyway; however, one evening a young lad took about 20%, so I'm happy with that (good old young bloke theory eh).
The two local Tesco stores are great; they're smallish, so in competition with the big Asda. From what I've gathered, there's no exact policy on coupons, and the cashiers don't seem to be bothered. I don't take the mickey, so usually tend to get between 10-30% off (don't even have that many coupons these days!), which I'm happy with.
Funnily enough, the olny slight hiccup I had in Tesco was with a young scruffy-looking teenager (who I thought would be an easy target, LOL), who said he couldn't take my coupons (only a few small-value ones). He then checked with a supervisor (cue a very red-faced Dormouse), who was nice and told him to just scan them
Surprisingly, so far all the middle-aged lady cashiers have been very good at taking vouchers! Long may it continue!
Good luck to all the fellow coupon users - here's hoping they will have some sort of consistent policy at some point! :rolleyes:0 -
I think im trying Waitrose today as Ive heard that they take coupons easily. I dont shop there but there is one where we are going and love their quality and hey if Im using vouchers...it cant all be bad;)
Anyone used waitrose with success and how many were you allowed to use on what price of shop?
I only have a few items to get, maybe £20 and have about £8 in vouchers-would this be ok?
Thanks

Well i was at my Self Scan machine yesterday buying a few things from Asda and decided to put through a few coupons. They went through fine and the lady standing watching everyone was okay. But then i put through my daughters shopping, dvd's and a few tops she was buying with her birthday money - put through just 50p worth of coupons and the lady watching tapped me on the shoulder and said 'don't you think you've had enough coupons today!'. I was so embarrassed! I said what do you mean! She said you're only entitled to £2's worth off your shopping! Anyway i just said sorry and that was that. Very embarrassing and i muttered as i walked by...i won't be using this machine again!
So they are watching you do this coupon thing and will question you too!

LeonaAnd how annoying - do they expect you to be a mind-reader and magically know it's £2?
Besides, I've never heard of a £2 limit...
Would you mind saying which store it was?0 -

I haven't used Waitrose myself, but do remember MSErs saying that most Waitrose stores will take pretty much any amount of vouchers. The only thing I think they might do is physically check that they actually stock the product, so it might take a while... But they are very nice about it!

flufff wrote:Can I ask if self scan will accept printed vouchers?Do they scan ok?Ive a drought due to no vouchers in papers this week :-(
they do - but if the print is even slightly fadded it won't scann and a little person will come over to see what your up to - generally if you draw attentions they'll stop you. Happened to me and they opened the machine, gave me all my printed vouchers back and re-trallied so the shopping was full price.
the till in the middle of self scan (that the staff use)does show everything going through every till, generally if use make a show of putting the voucher in the slot, use a mix of printed and actual and don't duplicate your ok. but it can depend very much on the staffDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0
