Xmas eve hamper - better than last year

I've made a start on the boys xmas eve hampers.
So far they've got..
christmas activity book 69p from home bargains,
character shower gel pouches/toothbrushes and flannels. 342 in boots
XL choc coins, 35p sainsburys
slipper socks which I picked up from BHS when they had the event day on recently.
Waiting for the christmas Pj's to come into the shops. Was going to get them a christmassy cup but decided to wait for the free photo mug offers to appear and i'm going to make them a personalised mug to use all year rather than a christmassy one. Also need to make a craft bag so they can make their name card so Santa knows where to leave their presents, reindeer food, snowman soup, cookie in a jar mix, Xmas DVD, going to get DS1 Blizzard and DS2 Rudolph the red nose reindeer, The movie.
I remember watching these with them last xmas on sky and they sat enchanted for ages.
there are other bits and bobs which i've not listed. The boys get give their xmas eve hampers mid morning, so we ca make their name plaque, cookies etc..then they have a calm(ish) afternoon before we do our evening activities.0 -

Anyway, they look lovely - esp the gingerbread one - just might have to 'try before I buy'!!!Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."

i have a 5 year old ds and a 3 week old ds, haven't done a xmas eve hamper before but really excited!
Thinking of including:
hot chocolate, maybe in form of snowman soup
dvd, maybe polar express
xmas rattle for ds 2
christmas eve bubble bar slice for ds1
reindeer food
snowballs to munch on during the film, the receipe for bounty balls is on the os thread. they are easy to make and if covered in white choc will do the job nicely and can be passed off as christmassy.

never heard of bounty balls before, off to have a look at what they are.
Picked up a lego man torch for each of mine's boxes today, nearly done then!0 -

Bounty Balls Recipe
These taste just like the brand name sweet and are very easy to make.
200g condensed milk
100g desiccated coconut
8oz icing sugar (approx)
8oz chocolate- Mix the milk and coconut together.
- Add enough icing sugar to form stiff dough which will form balls.
- Form small balls and leave to set on a tray until all the mixture is used.
- Place the tray into a fridge to set (over night is best).
- Coat the ball in melted choc and leave to set.
- Setting time minimum 4hrs.
line a tray with greaseproof and spread the coconut mix into the tin leave until set (instead of rolling them out into balls). When set turn out and cut up into chunks. then cover with the chocolate.
Or
line a tray with greaseproof and spread the coconut mix into the tin leave until set. When set pour over the melted chocolate and leave to set, then slice.
They do taste exactly like bounty, although I found you don't need to use anywhere near that much sugar.0 -
question - how do you weigh 200g of milk??? :SLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
Just wanted to say, I ordered three snowmen mugs from Avon for our Christmas Eve hamper - they arrived tonight and are lovely!! They're currently £5 but that's offer price, they're normally £8 I think - anyway, they're lovely!!

Hope someone else likes them as much as we do! xxAll horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.
