Xmas eve hamper - better than last year

I think the idea is terrible and an excuse for kids to have even more!
I would never do that! Christmas presents are enough on the day.
Why on earth have you got to have new pyjamas, slippers etc cos its xms Eve and if you do why not put them in with the present on xmas day!
Its just more pressure for parents and what about kids who dont get this done for them they tell other kids at school about their hamper and then their mums/dads feel under pressure to do one!
Soon every child will have to have a mountain of gifts on the day and a mountain of gifts the night before! Now by the title of this thread the hamper has to be even better than last years? Sorry but where does this all end?
While i accept your opinion, i don't share it and noone is being 'forced' to do this  I find it quite funny that parents should feel 'under pressure' to match what other parents do for their children, does this include gifts for xmas day? If my daughter's friend gets a games console, should i feel i have to because my daughter might get upset when she hears her friend has one and she doesn't? If people want to do this, that is up to them, if they don't then that is up to them too, but this thread is to help people who are.......Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

so just people are forced to do this dosent mean its right! You have to ask yourself why xmas presents on the day arent enough!
Parents do feel under pressure fact. Soon all children will feel they are missing out if they dont get extra gifts on Xmas Eve!
What next presents on New Years day!:footie:0 -
My kids always used to get PJ's and a Christmas story book on c/eve and my reason behind that was that at least they looked half decent when we was taking all the photos/videos on Christmas day.;)
I can't see what the problem isLife's too short to worry about what anyone else is getting (live and let live)

I said i accepted your opinion, but that is all it is, YOUR opinion. If i want to make xmas special for my children, i will and i won't be made to feel guilty about it, or be attacked :rolleyes:Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

thats got nothing to do with whether its necessary or not to start giving children more presents the night before and trying to introduce a new trend?
The mere title of the thread i want to make one better than last year says alot.:footie:0 -

Whilst you're entitled to your opinion, I'm not sure why you feel the need to come onto a thread where people are plan nice little surprises for their loved ones on Christmas eve and them that "it is a terrible idea!"
I hardly think a Christmas DVD to watch on Christmas eve and giving the kids new PJs to snuggle in whilst watching said DVD is really extravagant. Not really a "mountain" is it? Also something for the family to enjoy together, which is not always possible during the rest of the year.
Although I don't had children yet, I love the idea of a bit of Christmas magic. Some people are planning to make the magic key, cookies for Santa etc. It's a bit of fun. And of course they'll always be the people that don't believe in "the magic" but please don't come and tell us we're wrong for enjoying time with our families.:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Hello All,
New Poster, long time lurker.
I found this thread last year but as daughter was only just 2 and having a new born in the house, i followed the thread thinking i will do that next year.
I have read the comments above and think each to there own, life is too short to worry about other people think.
My mother always allowed us to open a pressie xmas eve to stop the nagging i think, never did us any harm. I have taken traditions on from when i was younger but now i have my own family i think this tradiditon will suit us better.
I am only putting things in the hamper that my children would be getting xmas day anyway, new pjs, new slippers, new book to read before bed, new xmas dvd to sunggle up with, some sort of activity like baking things to make cookies to leave for father xmas and lets not forget rudolf, making some home made decorations or getting messy with a cheap craft tub.
I think these items will keep my children amused during xmas eve and me sane, give us something to do together to build fond memories of christmas - thats my aim in the xmas eve hamper! And if they are wearing new pjs so they look smart in the xmas morning photos so what.
Im looking forward to following this thread rite up to xmas, will try to upload pics of my finished hampers.
Thanks for the idea guys!:heartpuls MSE OBSESSED :heartpulsVirtual sealed pot challenge 2010 member #50VSP = £112.33:T0
