  • I only use mine in Tesco as a friend works there and I wait until she's on her till otherwise I don't bother.
I've had so many embarrassing moments where there's been a queue a mile long where the supervisor was called to inspect my vouchers that I would'nt dare try elsewhere.

never had a problem using them in Sainsburys, not tried in any other supermarket though.

I guess if Tesco had taken them before they won't now because you aren't buying the product :rotfl:

I used to use them in Sainsburys and Tescos when I had them, staff were clueless too and would act as though I had given them a plain sheet of paper, I used to try to suggest they scanned it, they would say they weren't sure.

I never had any issues with them calling over a higher powered member of staff, it would normally leave them red faced if they had given me any grief before hand, but if they were simply unsure, I never saw the problem- they are given strict instructions, warnings over and over and over again about fraud and theft and its far harsher on them if they allow a fraudulent transaction (ie fake vouchers or vouchers that are made up by people from scratch and are not reclaimable by the store) to happen then they are rewarded for "catching" anyone.

I used to work in a shop too, I know how it can be and to be honest, they are just doing what anyone would do if they were unsure- asking for help. Though I can see it can be irritating and provoking if they start to give you " I can't take that voucher" stories. -Thats when they need to take a step back and realise it is OK to ask for help from a manager if they are unsure. Remember- they are only trying to keep their jobs/save agro from management.

I,ve only used them in MacDonalds as i saved them up for a treat for the kids--luckily they never batted a eyelid but i must admit i was dreading using them incase they asked what they were:confused:
  • I just had to google to find out what these luncheon vouchers were. :o
  • Hmm maybe I need to ask them to check. Most of the people who've refused mine have just taken one look at them and said "no" - maybe I ought to (if it's quiet) get them to check with supervisors. Assuming the supervisors recognise them.

It'd be really useful to get them always taken as money off supermarket shopping, as I don't really do fast food, so KFC etc aren't an option for me!

(PS. What was with the Tesco rant?)

I'd guess it relates the change in Tesco policy to only accepting vouchers if you have purchased the product.

We find that Morrisons are happy to take them against anything, doesn't even have to be food!

My Mum has kitted out her caravan with pans, mugs, cutlery, even tea towels all paid for with LV! Her latest purchase was a Top Gear Stig money box which is a Christmas present for someone.

I usually just use them against my weekly shop but have in the past bought things like memory cards for a camera and batteries with them.
