I use them against my normal weekly shop in Morrisons all the time so I don't suppose Tesco would be any different. My Mum used some this past weekend in Morrisons to buy new bed pillows!

I've only just been given some luncheon vouchers so sorry if this is a silly question.... can I use my luncheon vouchers for my normal grocery shop in Tesco? Taking it literally I thought I could only use them for buying things like sandwiches, take-away meals etc. :o
It would be great to use for the weekly shop if that's possible.
    Thanks

I used to get them from a well known survey company, and had no problems using them in Morrisons, Tesco and Somerfield.

One time a new young girl in Somerfield looked very closely at them, and said "it says they can only be used for a bone fide lunch"?

I replied, with a completely straight face "8 cans of lager and a bag of salted nuts is my lunch"

She just said "oh, right" and took them as payment.

yes, no problem. Occasionally a cashier double checks on how to process them. Some don't like giving "change" so I try and give less vouchers than the bill total. I usually explain that I get them for "mystery shopping" :D (not exactly true but the staff are so helpful to me nowadays :rotfl:)

At Tesco the till will not accept vouchers for more than the amount spent, so it isn't just a matter of not been able to give change you would have to pay the last part in cash or by card. eg if bill is £8.99 you can not give £9 of vouchers as the last one will not scan.

Anyone taking the last voucher could get in serious trouble as Tesco will not get the money back and therefore it is the same as letting you walk away without paying for all your shopping.

BTW this might change with the new voucher policy that is meant to be starting mid June at Tesco.

    Thanks everyone for your replies

Brilliant geordie joe :D I'd never have been that quick thinking!

I'm going to M&S this afternoon so now I know I don't have to buy a 'meal' I might try and use them there. If not I'll try Tesco later in the week.

    Thanks again

Sorry but that's rubbish. Tesco don't present the vouchers and say "but they didn't spend every last penny with us" and therefore LV won't give them anything for the voucher! Tesco just submit the vouchers and get paid.

Just to let you know I used my vouchers in M&S food hall. The SA didn't know if they accepted them but then she spotted a 'Luncheon Voucher' button on her till! She was lovely and insisted she'd take them all (only £9 but there was a queue), fortunately they don't have to be scanned separately which was a relief.

Thanks again everyone, I wouldn't have had the confidence to try and use them otherwise :)

And are they really so rare that so many supermarket/ restaurant staff have never seen them before?!
I have only ever seen LVs once in my life, when I got paid with them for doing some surveys. Never seen LVs before, never seen them since. They're not very common.
