whooo hooo ..... Lossed so glad you are feeling a bit more positive! And don't worry about pawning the camera, when I was on the dole for a little while this year my lappy, ipod and camera went in and out of the shop like a blooming boomerang!
Other little tips for when you get staright with wages is buy some stardrops cleaner and white distilled vinegar. Stardrops you can clean almost everything with and it shines/polishes too, and the white vinegar you can clean windows with (I take quite a few of those newspaper freebies from Tesco home to do mine), also you can put the vinegar put down the loo and on taps to get rid of limescale and I kid you not, water down your fabric conditioner with. It doesn't pong and the clothes come out lovely and soft.
and yes try the Old Style board - they are fab. Also try the Pay a Debt a day thread....(can't do links though cos I'm a bit twp).

Hiya, like many others, I have been reading these boards and lurking for a while and have now got up the courage too post. I am not in a great deal of debt and my problems seem trivial in comparison too some, its for that reason i have not posted. Scared incase people say " thats not a problem" or similar. I have been in debt many times before and just when I start to climb out of it, I put myself back in it again. Whats all that about ??????? I know it is going to stress me out and I am going to struggle to pay my outgoing, but I just go a head and do it anyway.

. I feel I am a lossed cause. I just "have" to keep pressing myself distruct button for some unknown reason. At the moment its 2 weeks to pay day day and I have £1.50 in my purse :eek::eek:. I have borrowed from relatives and friends so cant go there again. As my username says "I'm Lossed"
Like alcoholism, until you realise you have a problem, and admit it, you won't be able to move on to the next step. You've already done that, so that's the big bit out of the way. As you'll see, you aren't alone in your predicament, so don't feel alone and helpless. There's many people here who'll help you out.
As you've discovered so far, there are sometimes relapses, but if you stick at it you'll eventually get there and the feeling you'll get will make it all worth it.
You need to know why and how you got into debt, then remove or distance yourself as far as possible from those triggers/reasons. Don't let the same thing happen again. If it's an addiction to shopping, then you've got to break that addiction or you'll just go back to doing the same thing. Cut up your cards, work out a plan, get as much advice as you can and listen to the people on here who've been through similar things and come out of the other side ..... debt free.
You WILL get there.0 -
Sassers and uptomyeyeballs, thanks for your comments. I do need to get a plan into place for when i get paid, to tackle my overspending. Or I WILL OVERSPEND. This month DO gets paid Thursday and I get paid Friday, so our months money will be all in the bank together. BIG TEMPTATION. I have set up a transfer payment to my empty Halifax bank acount, so that I dont need to go back to LTSB and dip in. I think i will give DO card for LTSB.
I have just made tuna and sweetcorn pasta bake, topped with cheese and crunchy crisps, rubarb crumble and made biscuits. AND I DINT SPEND A PENNY. HAD ALL THE STUFF IN THE HOUSE. I would have usualy gone out to the shops and easely spent a Tenner. I have a row of about 30 or more cookery books on my kitchen bench, never touched them for ever, the stupid thing is I like to cook. so dusted them off and got cooking.
ThankyouBack tracked and taking the other fork in the road, it has to lead to a better place than the other one did0 -
I'm dreading doing the camera thing but if i hate it and it makes me feel terrible, i am hoping that will keep me from having to go back again !!!

Can I come round for tea ? lol
The hardest thing for me was seeing things in magazines like house beautiful and wanting them or going to the shops at the weekends like it was hobby! It took a lot of time over several months to train my brain not to get into these habits of `want'.
It's a lot to take in at first and tiring and timeconsuming - like ferreting round the cupboards and freezer to hand bake things. Yes it's easier to go to the shops but it ain't cheaper! Best advice is take it slowly with each new thing you do, get into a routine and enjoy it...don't think you're depriving yourself, think of the money youre saving....
Hope I don't sound too patronising

Not at all, isnt that why we are all here, for help support and idea's. I shop out of boredam. So thats another avenue to go down, sort out things to do. I can turn my hans to most things, so hoping to get some decorating done, just emulsioning and tidy up. i sew too, thats another thing to do. I also like to walk. Problem is my friend and family work days, so im by myself quite a lot, nobody to keep me in check

Lossed you sound just like me - I make and do loads of things like sewing as well. I have to confess I was in Next Home shop last night to have a nosey round. Took loads of photos with my mobile - not to buy in the shop but to try and make some of the cushions, throws and a couple of their ornaments at home......throughly enjoyed myself looking at all the overpriced stuff thinking I can make that for xxx-amount of pennies rather than what they were charging....£12 for a peacock green vase. Um no, don't think so. Have paint and glass jars at home - and mine will be nicer!Current debt and mortgage: £25, 820.35 Debt/Mortgage at start: £92,598 (27/09/2010)

I wouldn't pawn it, you'll end up paying moreback, you may be better off taking it to smack sorry, cash convertors or cex to see how much they'll give you 2nd hand, and it means you'll have an account with the one you use which you can use again if you need to** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

Don't forget that the shops encourage us to shop for recreation! Christmas, Easter and many other times of the year/events have been reduced to "marketing opportunities". As soon as the Christmas stuff disappears from the shops we get the January sales (in December these days); then Valentine's; then Mother's Day then Easter. They are pushing something at us all the time. We end up buying "stuff" we don't need, don't want, can't afford.0
