A trip to the Lane Bryant Outlet store just about justifies the air fare for me! I recently visited the Tanger Outlet Malls in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (no sales tax!!). I went with a near empty case, and bought 2 bras, 3 pairs jeans, 4 tops and a pair of pj's. I just wish they would ship to the UK, but they don't :(
Also shopped in the Eddie Bauer Outlet store for tee shirts and one of those cagouls that folds into it's own pocket.
My husband is also a big bloke and he likes their Tall fitting shirts, which are longer and have longer sleeves.

DOROTHY PERKINS SALE ON (I thought they had one not long ago...)
no good for many people, only up to size 22, but I thought it may interest the slimmer ones amongst us (I'm size 28, much too big for their clothes ;))

I'm looking for somewhere reasonably priced that sells gothic and fetish clothing (leather, rubber, pvc etc) in sizes 18-22 (I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds sizes vary DRAMATICALLY from store to store), either online or I live in Bristol for actual stores, any help would be much appreciated, I dislike not looking edgy because I've put on a few (well, okay, more than a few, LOL) pounds since my husband had his heart attack as we have both been a lot less active, any help would be much appreciated :o)

Hi - what a brilliant website.
My HUGE problem at the moment is that manufacturers seem to think that as the sizes get larger, the length of their tops need to increase too so larger girls need to be over 6 foot tall!!!! Manufacturers please take note: this is NOT the case - I am size 20 but am very short waisted so T shirts come right down over my hips which look absolutely ridiculous and most unflattering - I need them to sit just on my hips. I am so tired of cutting about 4 or 5 inches off the bottom of every top I buy and hemming it. M&S used to do a "Petite" range where the tops, blouses and T shirts were the right length, but when I asked the other day their response was "Oh sorry we are cutting down on that range, there's no call for it anymore!" NO there won't be many sales, if there is nothing to buy!! Surely it would cost manufacturers less to make shorter tops as they don't use so much material ........ Madness! DOES ANYONE ELSE AGREE??

Elvi.co.uk has good quality, often natural fabrics, stylish day, evening and casual wear at reasonable prices.

Chesca is too expensive for everyday purchases.

When in USA or Canada Ralph Lauren Woman never fails me, why do our upmarket stores not sell this range?

Forgot to say that Elvi also do a shorter fit, perfect for those who are shorter than average height.

Littlewoods do shorter and taller fit, although when I bought a top in normal and taller fit, a part from very slightly longer arms they were they same (their sizing, and the pics/descriptions online are very unreliable, but the give you free returns so it's not too much of a problem if you have to return).

  • If anyone is looking for Jeans and can find the BS Casuals make at TK Maxx try them on. I only wear these jeans. They fit like a dream & are an expensive German make. They have some elastic in them so are very comfy. I actually wear these clothes out (rather than grow out ;) ).
  • Hi I sympathize with all women what ever size you are, manufactures dont seem to realize that we dont all fit the standard model of a size 12 and 5' 7". It must be incredibly difficult to find clothes to suit the larger women.
My situation is different to all yours, I'm too tall for petite range and too small for standard range. Also the biggest challence is that I am a size 8. Unlees you are there when they get new stock in as you all well know forget it.
My most embarrising moment was when a very well meaning assistant took me to the children's department and suggested that they would have clothes more suited to my size. A 48 year old does not look good in clothes designed fo 14 year olds. The clothing industry needs to wake up to all womens need
  • Hi, I'm sorry but a lot of my friends are size plus...up to size 24, they don't have a problem with buying clothes. On the other side of the coin, i cannot find clothes to fit me. I'm small and slim, even the petite sections don't fit! I look at size 8 or 6 jeans now and they hang! The shops have i noticed added extra material to sizes. A size 6 now is equivilent to what was a size 10 years ago. I can't buy childrens clothes as they don't fit, i end up in teen sections....but at 50 do i really want to be dressing like a teen? no!
As far as i see, theres plenty of stocks in various shops for the larger sizes....even specialist shops for tall people ( long tall sally). But if your like me, under 5ft and don't fit into the allegedally size 6......there is nothing.
I would love to be plus size, at least there is clothes out there on the high st:(
