I'm looking for somewhere reasonably priced that sells gothic and fetish clothing (leather, rubber, pvc etc) in sizes 18-22 (I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds sizes vary DRAMATICALLY from store to store), either online or I live in Bristol for actual stores, any help would be much appreciated, I dislike not looking edgy because I've put on a few (well, okay, more than a few, LOL) pounds since my husband had his heart attack as we have both been a lot less active, any help would be much appreciated :o)

A friend recommends these people, but i have not tried them myself.

I would love to be plus size, at least there is clothes out there on the high st:(

If it was so easy to find plus size clothes, then why are there so many posts in this thread?

Perhaps you & turnursmileon should start a different thread to find suitable clothes in sizes 6 & 8? There's clearly issues with sizing for a lot of people in the shops.

Hi, I'm sorry but a lot of my friends are size plus...up to size 24, they don't have a problem with buying clothes. On the other side of the coin, i cannot find clothes to fit me. I'm small and slim, even the petite sections don't fit! I look at size 8 or 6 jeans now and they hang! The shops have i noticed added extra material to sizes. A size 6 now is equivilent to what was a size 10 years ago. I can't buy childrens clothes as they don't fit, i end up in teen sections....but at 50 do i really want to be dressing like a teen? no!
As far as i see, theres plenty of stocks in various shops for the larger sizes....even specialist shops for tall people ( long tall sally). But if your like me, under 5ft and don't fit into the allegedally size 6......there is nothing.

we are not running a competition here, to decide who finds it harder to find clothes that fit.....
Large size means a variety of sizes, for example if you are over size 32 it's extremely hard (and very expensive) to find clothes.
We should all be able to find clothes, all shapes and sizes!
This thread is about plus size, but why not open a new thread for women with the opposite problem? That would be a much more positive steps than posting here, as we can't really help you.

Hi I sympathize with all women what ever size you are, manufactures dont seem to realize that we dont all fit the standard model of a size 12 and 5' 7". It must be incredibly difficult to find clothes to suit the larger women.
My situation is different to all yours, I'm too tall for petite range and too small for standard range. Also the biggest challence is that I am a size 8. Unlees you are there when they get new stock in as you all well know forget it.
My most embarrising moment was when a very well meaning assistant took me to the children's department and suggested that they would have clothes more suited to my size. A 48 year old does not look good in clothes designed fo 14 year olds. The clothing industry needs to wake up to all womens need

I sympathise with you, anyone who does not fit standard sizes has a hard time finding suitable clothes.
I honestly think that starting a thread for petite women may help you, this thread has been great for sharing tips :)

    Hello lovelies!

I agree! You should definitely start up a thread for women in your situation to share info and tips. That's what we did, and as you can see it's still going great guns. :D:D:D

I have a small waist in relation to my big ole hips, so have to have everything taken in, and have lots of belts! :p Also, my boobs are quite high so most necklines hang at about nipple level on me - so I sympathise with not being able to wear things straight off the rack.

My Mum's inside leg is 25 inches and my daughter's is 35 inches so they struggle too.

At least I'm fairly standard in that department. ;)

I also have really wide feet, my daughter's are really narrow and my Mum wears a size 3!

We're a pretty non standard family eh? :rotfl:

Good luck with your wardrobe and your new thread. :T

Have jumped to last page so not sure if this has already been said. I wish I could find more tops with 3/4 length sleeves. My weight gain was rapid and fairly devestating for a while, i was given emergency steroid treatment to try and save my sight, the dose was massive (60mg a day) and I went from 8 stones to 13 stones in 5 weeks. (15 years ago but have been unable to shift the weight by any more than a stone) My whole body is as one big strech mark. Anyway one of the more visible areas of yukness is the tops of my arms - from shoulder to elbow. I have noticed on a lot of large ladies that the top of the arm is often a very unattractive area, and yet most of the summer tops in large sizes are sleeveless. I just wish there were more choice of styles. Also, the lack of petite styles especially with sleeves. I am only 5 feet tall so a lot of size 20 clothes swamp me, I have to go for separates as dresses are usually way to big for me and also I need a 20 on top but can get away with 18 or even 16 on the bottom. Great idea for a thread - thank you, I shall go back and read it all and see where everyone else shops.

Thanks for that, they only sell corsets but it might come in handy when I have some spare cash, LOL, they are all made to measure so the prices aren't bad for that but a bit out of my price range at the moment :)

Hi - what a brilliant website.
My HUGE problem at the moment is that manufacturers seem to think that as the sizes get larger, the length of their tops need to increase too so larger girls need to be over 6 foot tall!!!! Manufacturers please take note: this is NOT the case - I am size 20 but am very short waisted so T shirts come right down over my hips which look absolutely ridiculous and most unflattering - I need them to sit just on my hips. I am so tired of cutting about 4 or 5 inches off the bottom of every top I buy and hemming it. M&S used to do a "Petite" range where the tops, blouses and T shirts were the right length, but when I asked the other day their response was "Oh sorry we are cutting down on that range, there's no call for it anymore!" NO there won't be many sales, if there is nothing to buy!! Surely it would cost manufacturers less to make shorter tops as they don't use so much material ........ Madness! DOES ANYONE ELSE AGREE??

Try Bon Marche as I find a lot of their tops are too short for me. They go up to 22 or 24.
