This site is posted on the Gabbit Board by kkebay as a cheap site for lots of things. While looking around the site I found wedding dresses for around £100 (not that I need one , lol ) (they are called wedding apparels in the menu) in sizes up to 28 plus they have prom dresses and much more, some are odd, some are gorgeous. e.g. http://www.everbuying.com/Classic-A-Line-Princess-Strapless-Wedding-Dress-For-Brides-p-60

It is a Chinese site but you can buy in ££s and payby Paypal. I have known quite a few people who buy clothes from Chinese sites with no problem. Delivery is free worldwide. Hope this helps someone but remember its kkebay not me who came up with the site :)

  • There is a great ladies clothing shop in Burnham Market, Norfolk (Gillys) has a great range of clothing in sizes up to 22 (and beyond).

They have an online shop that has a clearance section:
    gillysofburnhammarket.co.uk

Prices not cheap as mostly designer brands but worth a look, especially for special occasions etc.

I looked at that site and couldn't find anything over a size 18. :(
Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein
  • Just had an email from ELVI they may have further reductions in the sale and I think they go up to sz24-26 in their general stock, although I haven't checked again

Sorry Jacks - yes - I looked after I'd posted it and there isn't that much on there atm - although I did find the odd Size 20 (look in the Magic Jeans section by Michele and in the Clearance/Special Offers bit). They do normally have more choice. Plus you can ring up if you need a larger size but they're not always on the website (MIL love the place!).

Maybe worth checking every now and again or calling shop if you see anything you really like :)
  • Thanks for all the suggestions so far - I'm going to have to go and try things on - cannot buy online without trying some first. Ive been googling australia photos to see wha tthey wear, and its often longish quite smart dress, and possible jacket. I want to hide top of arms, so if I get sleeveless, would get a sheer throw maybe.

Has anyone got any suggestions for best "undergarments" spanx etc. I'm size 22 and pear shaped - bust 38E and heavy on bottom and thighs - sob.If only I'd had more time to drop a little weight.

On Gok Wan, he often puts them in a corset and long pants, with own bra underneath. Do you think this would be a good idea for me, as I know it can transform how you look a bit.

I've got the long pants but don't often wear them. Also it will be 35/40 degrees in Perth then, so I won't feel very comfortable, but may make me feel better? thanks for any more ideas

Hmmm I've tried thos spanx and other control wear and could never get used to them because they felt too restrictive esp in the summer heat, so I don't know what how comfy they would be be in Oz. just had another thought tho: QVC UK do alot of their clothes in 2xl & 3xl (but the P&P is pricey if you buy lots of individual items). BUT if you check the website they often have video presentations on the clothing so you see how they look on plus size models and get tips from the fashion advisor or designer. Also they have v good reviews and feedback from other customers . Perhas something from the Kim & Co, Attiudes by Renee, Roni Nicole ranges etc may be what you are looking for at least you'll get an idea what you do / don't like. HTH

Just remembered a site for undies: feminine plus - not a large range, can be a bit pricey but nicely made and lots of sizes and free p&p

If you're anywhere near Warrington or Shrewsbury, there's a QVC outlet in both towns. I'm in London, but have arranged weekend getaways just to visit these outlet shops. Cheap Travelodge, take in some Home Bargains on the way & a few craft shops...fab weekend away. :D
