  • Well what a let down! I mentioned earlier that I had bought some more boots and a top from Evans, They came today, They went back Today! The quality is terrible! The boots were made of some fluff covered cardboard tying to be suede, with scuffed and badly finished buckles on the side of one of the boots(one fine). The top is so flaky, I know it will ruin after a couple of washes. I am so fed up with Evans as this is not the first time I have had this problem with their shoes. I believe it may even be the 4th time within a couple of years. I have to buy my shoes there as I am a size 10 and wide fittting. There is no good standard that follows to all of their shoes, some are good others should never have gotten past the design stage and certainally not quality control. If any one knows another place for large shoes I do not know please please pass it on x I know Barratts(too narrow),Hush Puppies too narrow,Magnus too narrow and expensive(also known as LongtallSally),Laredoute are too narrow, Simply be/fashion World/Vivadiva(only do size 10 in old ladies style or !!!!!s/men that like to do drag)The Big shoe one online, is it priceless- that is Barratts again.....da da dah...

  • Help please! My son has suddenly decide to marry his Australian girlfriend in Perth in mid February, so we've had to book flights. Now my problem is what to wear . They are getting married outdoors in Botanic gardens. men all wearing suits so fairly smart, it will probably be about 35-40 degrees and humid. I've never met her or any of the family.

I need advice please. I never usually wears dresses, I'm pear shape, size 20 or 22, and hate my upper arms (among other parts). I have dark hair and bright colours suit me.

My first thought was to try and find a long dress maybe natural material as cooler, with stole round shoulders. I want to look as slim as poss, so thought simple empire line maybe? I don't usually like to wear dresses as I feel exposed. I usually wear open shirts etc to disguise my self a bit.

Not sure if I'll get anything here this time of year. We'll be there for 10 days before so I could try and get something there as they'd have more choice, but its leaving it a bit late.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

By the way, I was asking about jeans a while back and some kind person suggested Sainsburys classic, which I managed to get half price, and I'm very pleased with them, so thanks again.

someone posted than monsoon have a sale of evening wear, perhaps a lightweight floral frock? They go up to a size 22. Failing that look on ebay, bought an evening dress for my daughter for £18 just before christmas (used) and its glorious. Lots of choice on ebay too even for size 22 (which is what I am too). Good luck and whatever happens have a wonderful time. Remember we have a right to look pretty too whatever our size and go for it.

 I was going to recommend Monsoon, Marina Rinaldi, Anna Scholz, Next or maybe Ann Harvey? Waiting and shopping when you get there is a terrifying idea to me!

I haven't googled, but maybe Australian magazines still have wedding articles on the internet which might give you some ideas? Your daughter in law to be might be able to send you some?

There are some nice maxi dresses in the new Simply Be catalogue too.

Maybe this is one time to take advantage of your local department store's personal shopping service? Give them the situation as a brief and see what they come up with.

Best of luck hon. I think formal occasions are a nightmare clothing wise for a lot of people.
