    Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before, but can anyone point me in the direction of plus sized opaque tights.

I use to buy them in M&S but they seem a little short.

I'm looking for black in 40 denier and above.

    Thanks

What size/ height are you? I find John Lewis tights to be very generous, but it really depends on what you mean by plus size.

Have a look in Asda & BHS I find their tight's good, a few people have recommended Evans tight's in the past but I've found them a bit long, so they may be ideal for you.

If you are over size 24 I would recommend Evans (not too long for me), but I found that for simply be the sizes on the packet don't correspond to the sizes advertised, and the tights are very small.

I don't use anyone else because they don't do my size and also I don't use tights that match, I'm a trousers type of gal....

    Hi
Thanks for all your suggestions, I will give Evans a try, I'm probably a 24 on the bottom, and I also hate tight, but need them for work:(

Never thought of BHS so will nip in there and have a look as well....I miss summer already;)

I'm another tights hater, have you tried hold ups? I find them the lesser of the evils :)

Never found a hold up that held up so far. So instead I wear knee socks with long skirts and boots. :)

  • For the Simply Be/JD Williams shoppers here...if you put SALE in the search box it will bring up quite a lot of items which don't appear in the "normal price" section or clearance sections. Some extra bargains to be had (apologies if someone has posted this before?)

I've had a couple of very bad experiences with customer service, so I thought we can share experiences about the main plus size companies.

La Redoute: already posted about it, just can't get them to find and send my order or to answer my complaints. Can't be bothered anymore with them.

Yours Clothing: again a very unhelpful company who totally disregard the Trades Description Act, or Distance Selling Regulations, providing misleading information about products. Haven't got time and energy to take this further, but I'm not going to buy from them again.

What are people's experiences of companies selling large size clothes?

I found M&S good except that they charged for items that were not delivered but when I phoned them they refunded straight away. Returns are very easy.
Simply Be seem OK, have not had any major problems, orders and returns always accurate. Unfortunately they have reduced the 28-day return to 14 only.
Evans, again no problems with them, returns are easy, in store up to 28 days.
Littlewoods: no major dealings, but I get the impression that their clearance arm is not very customer friendly though.
Anne Harvey: no dealings with customer service, but they seem a very old-style company, like they have a silly paper-based loyalty card.

Tesco/Matalan/New Look/Next etc: can't comment on. Anyone knows more?
  • Thanks terra-ferma, you just saved my bacon there! Got a Wonderbra from Simply B last week which I will be returning (absolutely rubbish quality and I had to wait 3 months for it, and I wanted it for a wedding in August!) Thought it was still 28 days so hadn't rushed to the post office with it, so guess where I will be going tomorrow :D

Did you just happen to spot that it had changed, or had they written to you to tell you? I get bombarded by their catalogues (and catalogues for all the various JD Williams companies) but it looks as though they are not so quick to tell you about things like this!

(But I've not had any problems with returns to Simply Be, including a bra which some skank had had before me, worn and stunk out with her BO and then sent back - it was part of a pack of 2, so Simply Be told me to chuck the nasty one, keep the second one which was ok, and then sent me a replacement pack)
