Qwerty79 would be nice to know what you think about the dress when it arrives and also if you got caught with extra customs or anything (hope not).Stop looking for answers....

Holy clothing comes from India if I remember rightly. Of several shipments myself and mum have had, we've never had customs charges. Us site customers too, theirs comes from India as well.
Don't expect them to last ages, it depends on style/cut/material. Some of my dresses have split on seams, on ruffle edges, and bobble. BUT I have a couple of plain cotton material dress/tops that have lasted ages.
They do colour run, so wash separately, and do actually wash ok in 40 deg machine.
One dress has split on back seams, not my weight honest! (The material frays) but a quick sew on a machine, debobbled, and a new dye and its like new.
They're cheap ish when you do offers in them, and do look nice, but be aware they're not going to last well. In my opinion of course! Had two that fell apart in days, returns was ok, and replacements were fine.
There is a eBay side of the us site and also some uk sellers too, but the uk seller on eBay was stock limited, and frankly were dearer than buying it on us site. Last time I bought several months ago
They are also not cut to fit, most rely on either elasticated back, or ties, and ties can often sit under the rolls on the side. I don't care, but I know some do.
I don't want to be too harsh on them really. For the cost of them, they're alright. I know to avoid which ones now to ensure I have the ones that last the most. I have 3 dresses I use, and one black top. The rest have been donated to charity (black full dresses, and a black top or two, want bright/ shorter styles now). One of the current dresses has a constantly fraying ruffle on the bottom, and is on the next sew list to either ribbon the bottom, or complete amputation to fix it totally.0 -
My goodness! I'd not expected to have to keep repairing clothing like that. Is it really worth the money?
I gave in and placed an order with Pink Clove. Should be here today or tomorrow so I'll let you know what they are like. Ordered two dresses & two skirts.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

That will be interesting too, Pink Clove have some nice stuff and I don't agree they are all for younger ones. ;-)

I didn't want to hate on them too much, because some of the dresses/tops are lovely, just some styles seem to need work if you want them to last. And bear in mind I'm talking a long time, rather than a few months. And when I say repair, aside the bottom of the green one, it is just a bobble here, a dye there, and a quick sew after. It's not taking it all apart, and doing it. General maintenance persay
I keep three dresses from Holy Clothing now;
I have a lilac knee length plain cut dress that I wore to my brothers wedding 3 years ago, and that's fine, as good as new still, I've not needed to "fix" that. aside bobbling.
Where as a green one has the bottom fraying. But the green had chiffon frills or something on the bottom, which traditionally does fray. As mum would say back in my day we finished edges off properly. Forest green colour has lasted as good as new.
And the red dress, which is elasticated back (still fine, still elasticated well), but it split on the seams on the back, probably because of shape pulling, and that the material does fray, and obviously not enough cut off was left to prevent it splitting. Colour wise it drained colour after a long time, so a box of dylon and it's like I have a new dress again (when it was sewn) This one is possibly 5 years old or so. I used peacock red, and the red is even nicer than the red I had on it too. It dyed brilliantly.
But they are lovely dresses, this is the thing. Compared to shop prices you can get your moneys worth with them, just need to be aware that for long term, ie a couple of years, you probably need to do work with them, and I'd avoid anything with a floaty/chiffony bottom with my experience of that side now.
They do say not to machine wash, but i do mine separately on cool wash, just remember colours may run.
So I'm not going to say don't get them, but check the quality of seams when you first get them. I will totally still buy them myself as for the cost of them (via us/us ebay site) is really cheap compared with getting a very nice looking dress/top :rotfl:0 -
I've got a few bits of HC clothing, and luckily 'touch wood' I've never had to fix anything up (I don't sew. lol), although I have redyed a few bits. And the tightening straps have come off a couple.
Although, for me they don't fit very well - they don't seem to bet vut for boobs (i'm a 38HH) so I have to buy bigger sizes than i'd need meaning they hang lose and the dresses look a bit tent like (not helped buy the straps snapping off.
I also find for me they are a bit short but again i'm 5'11.
They are lovely and cool in the summer tho so I normally just wear them to hang around the house when its hot.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
I've got a lot of Holy Clothing dresses. I've never had to repair any of them. I also have big boobs but find they fit me fine (maybe because I'm fat all over!).
The only negative I have is that I always manage to shrink them in the wash (first one only) despite using a cold wash. Other than that take a good look at the measurements some dresses are very long.0 -

I'm pretty fat all over, but I think because i'm nearly 6ft the shaping isn't quite in the right place (I have the same problem with Evans)I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
Can anyone help me out with a couple of questions.
Anyone size 22 wear Dorothy Perkins clothes, - do they fit "true to size"?
Also I'm looking for a wide (preferably stretchy) belt t go with a couple of dresses, in any colour except black or brown, and so far have found just 1 thing on ebay, any one seen any anywhere?A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
