Hi just getting back to you on tights as I bought some yesterday in Primark. They didnt have the stirrup leggings I mentioned but I had read some reviews of their opaque tights apparently there is a big difference in the fit of the different deniers and the ones to go for are the 100 denier microfibre tights, black. Cant remember if there were other colours. I've tried them on and they fit perfectly, easy to pull on up to the crotch and then plenty of material to cover the stomach. I'm a size 22 and 5 ft 10. They cost £2.50, I need to get more now as starting a job in January.

Thats good - I got the thick knit patterned ones and they were at least 4 inches too short - same with the ones in Asda. I would love knit/patterned ones, not just opaque, but opaque is still good.:)

And blimey why are tights so expensive I'm simply not willing to pay more for tights than I pay for trousers and other items of clothing!!!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

I was at a trade event and the Pamela Mann rep mentioned that they do extra long and up to a UK size 30 in some of the hosiery if that helps any one!

I agree, I am just going to have to stick to the Primark ones for now, Im starting a new job and havent needed to wear tights every day for a long time so going to need quite a few pairs and cant afford to pay £10 or more! The trouble is 100 denier is quite warm so I imagine when spring comes I'll be on the hunt for something else!

Have you tried ebay, there's a lot of plus size tights.

The only problem is that if they are too short I'd either have to lose my money or see if the seller will even accept a return & then pay to return - just not really practical. :(

    I'm 6ft and a size 24 - never really found tights that I a good fit.

I cheat by wearing a pair of knickers over the top as it keeps them up.
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

I think the trick is to go up a size or two in plus size tights, but they are expensive.

Looks like I'm going to have to spend quite a bit of money on new clothes in the new year, :( I've been losing weight (quite leisurely, I'm not one for starving myself or wasting money on stupid slimming pills...).
Glad about this thread, will definitely need to go through all the tips :)

I think the choice on the high street is improving, in Bristol we've had two new plus size shops open recently, Yours Clothing and Taking Shape which is an Australian company new to the UK. Tesco online is worth a look, also Asos Curve, M&S, Asda, Simplybe, Fashionworld, Marisota etc. Evans seems to be fading away or reducing its store stock inside BHS stores which at first was disappointing for me as I rely on them for shoes in my size, but since Yours has opened I've been impressed with them.

And good old Primark, Im a size 22 but Primark is great for cardigans for me, some dresses and tops and tights.

If I get down to size 24 for my tops as well, it will be an all new shopping experience because many of those brands don't do size 28. I will hang on until my trousers fall off....
