Forgot to say tickets are £20 at Shoreditch Town Hall.

Thank-you I had a look at: small article on BBC breakfast about it this morning, it's still on the web. They had the organiser on Remi Ray as well as a designer Anna Scholz (talking about different shapes as I was in an earlier post) as well as a few buyers.

    It's soo exciting I can't wait I'm definitely going.

I've just ordered an item from ebay seller carolineanne661, tried searching the forum to see if she had been mentioned before but can't see anything. She designs her own plus size clothing. It's mainly lagenlook so not everyone's cup of tea. If the quality is as high as the feedback states then the prices are not too bad. I'll post back when it's arrived.

"There is no one size fits all even in Plus."

That is so true, changes in life styles, nutrition and ethnic composition of populations lead to changes in the distribution of body fat, and require regular updating of anthropometric data collections.

The same way a fit skinny person will have a different shape to same sized skinny person. The larger the person the larger the variation in fat deposition can be, I hope this makes sense.

It is really time consuming and expensive to do even with 3D scanners this is why some retailers have developed a "best fit scenario " or "in-house measurement charts". Retailers have collaborated with universities to produce these anthropometric surveys.

I noticed a particular retailer even has advice on four different types of body shape too, taking it one step further.

I dream of the day when I can be body scanned for measurements and then go on to have my clothes individually made. I suppose this will only happen when they dramatically reduce costs in doing this.

I think the next best thing is to buy from businesses that offer an alteration service. Wearing correctly fitting clothes makes a huge difference as to how it looks on and like you say that applies to any size.
  • Towser you are wrong, this is the first year plus size fashion weekend started, I posted up some blogs and the first one curvy culture mentions it, in the events list and a summary.

I went to the fashion show, it didn't go well, the guy hackney councillor started the night by saying, all the skinny women here eat some food, it went downhill from there, the show was billed as an hour and a half, it started 40 mins late and only ran over by 10 mins, so 30 mins of nothing, also the,y haf the name of the designers mixed up, so that it didnt match with what was showing, also the show didn't flow well and there were a lot of gaps in models coming out, music badly.done, cd jumping, music being cut short, some of the models had their breasts spilling out of tops, tummies spilling over waist bands, I understand a show for bigger women, but some clothes were ill fitting, also the goodie bags held nothing but 2 hand creams, 11 leaflets and 2 catalogues, it was poorly done and it is the first and last time they will get money out of me.

Towser did you go? What did you think?

Still there are other events coming up, plus London, as I am in London I will Deffo go and plus north which is in Manchester i will decide nearer the time if I am going,I hope they will be better, the plus north tickets are.way cheaper than the fashion wkend, but i will keep an open mind.

Asos still have their sale on by the way.

I don't know any online unfortunately but Emma Plus in Brighton, who I mentioned in earlier posts does as do Larger Than Life near Kew Gardens. Neither shop offer garments for those on a tight budget though. TBH a seamstress out of Yellow Pages ought to be skilled enough to know what needs to be done. I've had several clothes altered, dress lengths, necklines, waistbands etc Like I said makes a big difference.
