  • for the person who was after tights...I bought a pair of thick black Spanx tights in the USA...I know Spanx are available over here, but not sure if the plus-size range is. I'm a 22-24 and 5'9'' so have real problems finding tights, but these are amazing! Very comfortable, don't roll down, etc. Am probably going to see if I can get some in the UK, or if the US Spanx will ship to the UK...I know the sizes go a lot higher than 22-24, but they size things differently, so I had to guess at my size....continuing the guessing I'd say the sizing goes up to at least a 26-28.

So I'm guessing, as yours are coming from Oz GoToGal that sockshop don't do them here? What a shame and how short sighted of them.

Yes, I'm getting mine posted by my friend in Oz but they do ship to the UK. She got them freepost and is sending them on to me. In return, I'm buying and posting some items she can't get in Oz. I love having overseas shopping buddies :T

Glad you guys like the socks too :)

Found this size chart, still looking to see if I can find them in plus size. Thanks for mentioning these! :j

If you are planning to buy clothes from Australia, bear in mind that their sizes are bigger.
For example a 28 UK would normally be 24 or 26 Australian.
Most size charts on the internet are wrong, because missy sizes (standard sizes) are larger (e.g. if you are a 10 UK you'd be a 12 Australian).
The gap closes around size 16, then it's reversed. Charts often don't reflect that and continue in the same way, e.g. UK 28 = AU 30.

(hope the way I explained it makes sense, just remember that if you are a size 18+ you need a smaller AU size :))

Talking of Australia, here's a new edgy designer, Gisela Ramirez, who might give food for thought:

    her motto is f*ck flattering.

    Here's a video from a catwalk:

Her clothes are not to everyone's taste, I would not wear most of them, but I like the innovative point of view! :T

When you purchase something in a different currency paypal will process the payment and exchange e.g. AU$ into £.
However if you go into you account and process the exchange manually beforehand you get a much lower exchange rate.
If you go into your account you can look at the two different rates, there is a link called currency converter, where you can look up the exchange rate.

E.G for £100 right now you get AU$ 150.43 for balance conversion (i.e. exchange within your account, not third parties involved), and if it's a payment conversion (i.e. a transaction) AU$ 150.43 will cost you £101.57.

It's complicated, most people will not know how to do it (actually, I will post on the main board about this).

I just placed my order but I could not see any place where I could process the currency conversion manually? I had to pay the invoice in AUD.
By the way, they knocked off $5 as a welcome discount!

You would need to do the exchange separately in you paypal account.
I tried to post a screen shot of the link on Paypal but couldn't. Anyway it's called currency converter, a link on the main page of the account, below the menus, on the right of your total balance in bold letters. You click that, then choose balance conversion from GBP to AUD.
    Then you go and purchase.

If you are already purchasing you can still access your account either logging in separately, on a new window as normal, or at PP checkout by clicking on the link where you choose the payment method (card, balance etc), that takes you to the main account page.

I'm not good at explaining, sorry.

This is not so MSE but I haven't seen anyone mention navabi? I only buy in the sale as *very* pricey!! but have had a gorgeous jacket and a couple of really fab dresses. Really unusual things and pretty fabrics, and everything has a catwalk video so you can see how it drapes and moves.

Good if you have non-traditional fashion sense too!
