So I'm guessing, as yours are coming from Oz GoToGal that sockshop don't do them here? What a shame and how short sighted of them.
It's not the UK chain sockshop, it's an Aussie company called sockhop. Those stripey socks are really floating my boat, I wonder if enough of us emailed enquiries they might agree to ship to us?
Edit to add: I've emailed them, I'll let you know what they say!Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
re: sockhop Yes they will! I emailed them about it and got this reply:
Hi Kath,
Thanks for your email. We do actually post overseas unfortunately the
website doesn't allow us at the moment, hopefully this will be fixed up
soon.
In the mean time, if you do wish to order, please set up an account and then
email the details of the socks you'd like, we can create an order and then
invoice via Paypal (this gives you the opportunity to pay by Paypal account
or by card).
The shipping rates are as follows:
Up to $50 - $10
$50 - $100 - $20
Over $100 - $30
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do.
Cheers

fantastic! :j
the current rate is £1 = AU$ 0.65
careful about what you use for purchasing in foreign money. Paypal is cheaper if you exchange the currency beforehand (for some reason it charges much more if it exchanges as part of a transaction, but you can look the rates up on your account).
If you use a debit card some are cheaper than others (Halifax seems ok, AL/Santander more expensive).0 -

When you purchase something in a different currency paypal will process the payment and exchange e.g. AU$ into £.
However if you go into you account and process the exchange manually beforehand you get a much lower exchange rate.
If you go into your account you can look at the two different rates, there is a link called currency converter, where you can look up the exchange rate.
E.G for £100 right now you get AU$ 150.43 for balance conversion (i.e. exchange within your account, not third parties involved), and if it's a payment conversion (i.e. a transaction) AU$ 150.43 will cost you £101.57.
It's complicated, most people will not know how to do it (actually, I will post on the main board about this).0 -
Reply to Terra-Firma response
Thanks I've tried Pamela Mann and they don't fit unfortunately.
I've just some City Queen tights which fit well but these are 'thin' tights rather than the opaque I could do with for winter0 -

What a pity.
Have you tried the ones on the first link, a brand called Jennifer? On eBay you don't normally get free returns, but it's not a huge amount of money.
I don't understand why there seems to be such a big problem with tights, not being true to size.0 -

Now I know why I couldn't find it - it's a 'closed' group. this means it's invisible unless you know it's there. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
