Just noticed that JDWilliams.co.uk and AmbroseWilson.com have a joint ad on TV for an up to 50% off sale. Anyone have any thoughts on their clothes?
I need some advice on updating my wardrode if someone could help me? Initally I need a top/jeans/cardi for casual/smart wear but I've been ill & now need most things. I'm between 22/24/26 on top and 20/22/24 short/med for trousers depending on sizing and don't like clingy clothes and thin materials that cling to cellutite and boobs and bums! Any time I get enough energy to go shopping all I can see are sleeveless tops that cling! Is it still possible to get tops with sleeves even if they just go to the elbow? Oh and I don't like white see-through tops. I prefer loose tops in slightly thicker materials and I like layers. I'd also like to get a new spring/summer cardi with pockets and jeans/trousers (short/med) that go up to the waist. Help! I have no clothes for summer and not much energy for too much shopping and from having no ideas I now have too many places to choose from in the 1st post! I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks

I find trawling through online so much easier than trekking round the shops getting fed up.

Somehow it's so much more disheartening if I can't find anything I like when I've paid for parking and trekked up a cobblestone hill. (Guildford high street.)

On the computer I just close the window and go and get a consolation cup of tea! :D

Looking on behalf of my 80 year oldmother in law the other day I was surprised to find a few things for me at Daxon. The prices were very reasonable and the sleeve lengths were varied!

I've linked to a selection, but there were plenty more.

My problem is that I'm tall (5'11) and big. I find it impossible to get clothes. Long Tall Sally is too expensive for me. I get the odd thing from Dorothy Perkins, and sometimes the larger sizes fit, sometimes they don't. Evans stopped doing their tall range. I need 36" trousers.

I can find long clothes, I can find large clothes - but finding them both is very hard.

    Anyone any ideas please?

Don't mean to funny but have you thought about locating a local dressmaker to make made to measure items. Could get some wardrobe basics that way.

Hi all, not sure if this has been posted, and I don't have enough time to trawl through and check - sorry :o Evans have a big sale on and if you add the code SUMMER20 it gives you 20% off when you spend over £40. Hope it's of use to someone, and apologies if you all know already. :)
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

I was going to add the same thing, except my codes are:

20% off £40 spend on first order CODE EVANSSHOP
15% off £40 spend on first order CODE SHOP15
10% off £40 spend on first order CODE SHOPEVANS

I think the first one is probably the best deal!

And I've used the code that missminx posted above and it works!

Has anyone used Curevty before now?

I am a bit dissappointed in them to be honest. I placed my first order on Weds (In the hope that it would be delivered for Friday, night out!) upgrading the postage to first class recorded. Top didnt turn up. Anyway, its arrived this morning..

This is what I have ordered (which NOW is NOT available in my size :()

    http://www.curvety.com/P/Plus_Size_Clothes_Fashion_Tops_in_Large_Sizes_Womens_Clothing_in_Big_Sizes-%281308%29.aspx

And this is what I have been sent:

    http://www.curvety.com/P/Plus_Size_Clothes_Ladies_Fashion_Separates_in_Large_Sizes_Big_Size_Trendy_Tops-%281297%29.aspx

Now have to find the time to go to the post office and return the item, and re-arrange for another one to be sent out. Rather frustrated :(

Anyone else had bad experience with them? x

  • I'm a plus size and 5' 10" I understand!! Even if you can find stuff on the high street it's really uninspiring. I've used Curvety, they're good. Igigi.com are amazing and usually very long but they're really pricey, having said that they have great sales. There is an American designer who will make you whatever you want, she is fantastic and extremely reasonably priced. If anyone wants her email address just message me. I just bought an ankle length (on me) burgundy velvet dress and peplum jacket for $90 delivered. She has ready made and will make to measure :)

Never used them but that is ridiculous! Didn't think you could substitute clothes like online food shopping! I'd complain, definitely!

    I have had a reply

    "Thank you for your email.

Apologies for the mix up with your order if you return the item to us using
our pre paided returns form from our website we will send u the top you
ordered next day delivery for free and we will refund your postage chargers".

Nice use of text speak!! ;) And I will be surprised if I do get the top, because it isnt showing in stock in my size online, so unless they are going to magic it out of thin air, I cants ee this happening!! And the way she has worded the reply is that they are sending me the top for free..!! Aswell as refunding me my postage!

I buy a lot online (well almost exclusively, I hardly visit shops nowadays... too lazy;))

I would say that getting the wrong stuff when ordering clothing is almost the rule rather than the exception.
Other stuff not so much, but clothing is a widespread problem.

In my opinion the worst are:
Ann Harvey (can't get one order right, regardless of buying directly or through Debenhams/HoF as they all come directly from them)

Littlewoods and Co (well.. they normally send the right items, but their sizing is all over the place, their chinese manufacturers seem to size randomly.... I always buy at least two of my size to make sure at least one fits me, and even so sometimes I get nothing, but their sale prices are too tempting .... I s'pose thre is a reason is things are on sale, and they sell them at silly prices because the can't get rid of them...)

Simply Be and Co (not as bad as LW, thanks god, just the odd mis-sizing... no it's not my bum that's got bigger/smaller :D)
