Vasectomy Experiences

  • my ex fiance had his vasectomy after the birth of his second child as he was married and in his very early thirties and not planning any more children. A year later his wife left him and he got divorced. I met him a year after that, I have no children and being 10 years younger than him was starting to want them. He always said he would have the operation reversed and although we knew there were no guarantees it would work we were willing to take the chance once we were financially able to have it done. That day never came and after 4 years together our relationship broke down because I wanted a child and he couldn't couldn't give me one.

I am not saying you shouldn't have it done, but I think Gingin is right, you don't know what is around the corner. My ex only had the operation done because he was married with two children and thought he had his family for life. It never occurred to him at the time that his life might change so significantly and he might regret it.
  • Had mine 4 years ago, just some discomfort immediatly following but soon cleared up. No problems post op.

My wife was told by her doc that she can no longer take hormonal contraceptives.

So that leaves abstinence, condoms, or a vasectony. The first 2 I can't even comtemplate.
Actually, they aren't the only options. If her doctor hasn't outlined other choices, it's worth speaking to someone at the family planning clinic.

DH had a vasectomy with no problems except some discomfort. I'd say though that, because I know people whose vasectomies have reversed so it's no less of a worry to me now than when I was using a diaphragm.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

There are other options such as the copper coil.

Best £40 I ever spent (that was in 1982, probably costs more now). No regrets at all.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Why are they dishing out vasectomies like sweeties, but get so horified on the thought of female asking for it?

Cost of procedure and risks are less with Vasectomy.

My hubby had his done last year, cost £250 and he was fine afterwards. A bit of bruising but back in action about a week later.

My sisters hubby had it done a week before and had a massive haematoma which had to be drained but we kept that quiet from my hubby. :rotfl:

had mine done 7 years ago when aged 33 and having 3 children. Went in and this bloke arrived to do a a wet shave around your balls. trust me, I did not move or cough until he finished. Lying on the operation table, then 2 massive injections. The operation took over an hour becuase a female trainee surgeon was doing it. When the operation was taken place - I was Not hoping for an hard on as that would be very embrassing as thier was two female surgeons taking care of it. I must say, the knife they used, is very sharp as the surgeon cut my willie and made a 1cm cut !!!!!!!
The best bit was after my first orgasm after the Vec. Finished, I got up and sat on the bed, I felt dizzy, passed out and fell onto the floor - hitting my head on the floor with a loud bang. My wife got up from the toilet to see want was happening and so did the children !!!. My children were horrified to see me naked on the floor - passed out and my wife - laughing her head off at me. When I came around, I found the funny side of it. It was so funny.

Had the 'snip' well over thirty years ago. Not much after discomfort nor complications, just the joy of no worrries thereafter.;)

My experience 2 years ago, this is how it went step by step to give you an idea of what you can expect.

    Pay £400 to Marie Stopes.

Meet for consultation in Ampthill surgery a month later, 10 mins chat about the procedure and any questions answered.

Meet surgeon, go in adjoining room to remove shoes, socks, and trousers.

Go into surgeons room, lie down on the couch.

Chat with nurse (female :o) while the surgeon busies himself down below.
..yes the weathers been nice lately, no, I haven't been to corsica.

Smell something tasty burning, decide not to ask if they are having a BBQ :rotfl:

    Very little sensation felt.

Receive chinese takeaway ( Brown paper bag with stick on patches and sperm sample containers ) and sit about for 10 mins.

Once they decide you aren't going to faint, off you go.

I used alot of Savlon after ;) to make sure no infection got into the wound. After a day or 2 slight soreness which lasted for a few days but nothing to worry about, I didn't even bother taking paracetomol.

You have to send a couple of sperm samples off at different intervals and they tell you online what the results are.

When I was there I mentioned to one guy 'Did you know they do over 20 of these ops a day?'.....a few minutes later he fainted

    I've been Money Tipped!
My husband had his over 25 years ago when he was 28 after 6 years of marriage as we did not want any children. He did have to go private as we could not get our doctor to agree because she said "we would change our minds"!! Funny that, we never have!

He was only in the room about 20 minutes, came out and we got the train from London back to Kent. He took the next day off work (he was walking a bit like John Wayne!) but went back to work the day after that.

He has never had any problems at all and it has been a massive relief not to worry about unwanted children.
