wow goanmad that is fantastic:T, just don't know how you do it! I don't know if this is too much to ask but can you post 1 pic of all your finds together on your blog so we know what they look like normally(at a jumble sale-so we know what to look out for:o). Not saying that they don't look good when you wear them!;)(they look better:D, just can't tell they're from a jumble sale!:rotfl:)
    Thanks

Claire Bear there's one advertised in the gazette last night for Saturday 10.30 Church of the Ascension ormesby rd/ marton rd, I ll double check for you.

Got a 1980's floral skirt M&S from the charity shop, its quite long so I'm going to try and give it a chop and 'tulip' it for the warmer weather (if it ever gets here)

Aye I drive past there on my way home from work, tonight I noticed there's a sign on the fence advertising it so I'm happy again as I'm not at work til 2 that day :D

I didn't make it to the bootsale this morning jtb for two reasons: the weather and the half bottle of wine and a mojito I drunk last night ;) Its absolutely bucketing down here right now.

    Did you go?

Jesa, I didn't get there today - went into Bognor instead CS'ing. Some nice little finds - red blouse (New Look) grey pinstripe smart trousers (M&S) and an organic cotton t-shirt (can't remember :p) all for £8.25. Also picked up a lovely teal/brown/cream Wallis top in another CS for £4.

Did you have a hangover this morning? Go anywhere nice to drink the mojito?

They've opened all the storm drains here which doesn't bode well - never seen them do that in the 2 years I've been down here so they're obviously expecting something pretty bad to head our way - I hope the weather doesn't ruin your weekend Jesa ! Ohh and well done on the spare change find on the pier :money: :D.

Off to see what Goan's found (will probably make me jealous again but I need my daily fix of her blog :p :rotfl:).

  • I will do, thanks for the headsup :) Don't think I'm going to bother trekking to Redcar again until the Summer so was looking for something a bit closer, just hope I can get a bus or something to this one as I don't drive

The mornings are becoming lighter and it is nearly March!!

Can anyone tell me when the Swalwell Rugby Club Boot Sale opens again? Also, I've seen a monthly Car Boot Sale advertised in Gosforth (St Oswald's), does anyone know if this will be operating this year and when?

Thanks everyone and have a good season.

  • I need to use my remaining annual leave at work by April so booked today off (even though I'm awake at 7am - typical!) & plan to have a mooch around the Charity Shops later!

I was perhaps quiet snobbish in refraining from going into one particular CS no too far from me due to my assumption it would be full of rubbish. Its not in a particularly affluent area - in fact the borough is quite renown for being the very opposite!.
The shop is a little dingy, has that grotty CS pong, and could do with a good lick of paint so expected most donations to be old toot...

    HOW WRONG WAS I!

I popped in there yesterday after persuading myself there maybe some treasure to be had... and I was so glad I did!

I managed to get a BNWT Nike Tracksuit top for £3, Last season River Island sequin top £2, a lovely electric blue shift dress from Dotty Perkins for £2.50, Sweeny Todd on Blue-Ray (tin collectors edish!) for the other half for £4!
...Plus a pair of gold Rococo style curtains made from the most lush thick, flocked material... which maybe a bit of a false economy at the moment as they'll be stuck in the cupboard until I can think of something to do with them!... I couldn't resist for only £3.

The prices were also extremely reasonable in comparison with other London CS! (If those curtains were in the CRUK shop around here they probably would have asked £10-15!)

Im now wondering what other bargains Ive missed out on over the years! ...I won't be so judgemental next time, and will certainly be returning!

Those sort of shops are the best:). Well done on your bargains, the curtains sound great.

Well the weekends coming up so it means carboots and that makes me happy. Will fit in some CS's too. Hopefully have something to report soon!!

I haven't posted on this thread yet but am an avid reader. Some of the best CS bargains I've found have been in the areas you wouldn't expect them, as the better areas send stuff in. I've been lucky as I've always been living in the poor areas. One in particular on a large council estate used to get lots of schools lost property boxes at the end of term. Anyone with kids may be worth finding out where that goes. There was always virtually brand new named coats, nike etc. Why wouldn't parents try & find a lost coat that had probably cost £50+?? Also with donations they are more likely to take everyting that is saleable.
goanmad love your blog,I am so envious of all your finds, I know you put a lot of time in, are you someone who can scan a rail & the good stuff jumps out at you, or are you rummaging with the rest of us? I always think yeah I can make something out of that curtain, quilt cover etc, then 5 years down the line take it back to a CS when I remember that I'm carp.
Keep up the good work everyone I love to read about it all.
  • hi all, i dont often post on this thread but really love reading about all the bargains, am very envious!
today i have the day off work and am just about to pop into a local town which has about 7 charity shops, if not more. Not been there for a while so hoping to get some bargains, I shall report back!
Also going to my first jumble sale in years tomorrow, going to try to get there early to nab all the bargains before someone else does!
