Claire, I've just looked at that link and the date it gives is Wednesday the 25th. Have you confirmed it's tomorrow? Would be awful to get there and find it was on today :undecided:j30/7/10:j

Oh, I didn't notice that
No I haven't confirmed - do you reckon I should ring the Gazette tomorrow morning before I leave, I don't think I'd be able to find a phone number for the church. I'm going to be mega annoyed if I've missed out on yet another thing but I bet it was today
Thanks for pointing that out though!D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
I've just googled the church and looked at their events calendar. While it didn't mention the jumble, there was a Mass on this morning at 9.15 so it's unlikely a jumble could start at 10.15 as they'd have to get it set up.
They didn't have a phone number listed, so it might be worth giving the Gazette a bell. My fingers are crossed for you!:j30/7/10:j

Just got off the phone to the Gazette, they said it would have been yesterday as this church always holds their sales on a Wednesday  Think I must have some sort of bargains curse on meD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

I love lurking on this thread but haven't been to a jumble sale in years and rarely go to Boot Fairs either as I don't drive. I take notions for going into charity shops but I don't seem to have much luck in finding real treasures.
However I saw an amazing kitschy 60s print in the window of my local Salvation Army store the other day. It's of a geisha girl and is by John Gilroy, who also produced the iconic artwork for the Guinness ads including the Toucan. There are a few minor scratches on the print but it's in its original frame and I thought it was a steal at £8.
I noticed one recently sold on eBay for £30, but I think I'll be keeping mine.0 -

I hope the jumble sale went ahead for you, Claire Bear.

That print sounds lovely, Joyce. I've been an avid collector of retro prints for a while (Tretchikoff, Lynch, Kelly, etc.,) and they rarely turn up anywhere for less than £50.
I've got two "Tina" prints which can go for as much as £120 on eBay but I wouldn't dream of parting with her.0 -
I went charity shopping at the weekend and picked up the only Michael Palin hardback I was missing. Also chuffed to find a retro glass jelly mould for a bargain price.
I hunt the charity shops for Pretty Ugly Pottery mugs that I collect. I have far too many but can't resist them!0 -
I didn't make it to the bootsale this morning jtb for two reasons: the weather and the half bottle of wine and a mojito I drunk last night
Its absolutely bucketing down here right now.
Did you go?Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Claire Bear there's one advertised in the gazette last night for Saturday 10.30 Church of the Ascension ormesby rd/ marton rd, I ll double check for you.
Got a 1980's floral skirt M&S from the charity shop, its quite long so I'm going to try and give it a chop and 'tulip' it for the warmer weather (if it ever gets here)0 -
Our monthly jumble was rather decent today.
The lady in charge has taken rather a shine to us and held back a consignment of beautiful hand knitted suits which had been stored in a loft since the shop shut back in the 1970's. Always good to smile and be polite when you're rummaging!
I also managed:
3 rather groovy 1970's day dresses
Some "Depp" leather clogs
A handknitted Aran cardi
Hot pink 1980's batwing dress
Mustard patterned zip-up grandad cardi
Current warehouse checked dress with £45 price tag attached
Bay embroidered "Dolls House" blouse with £22 price tag attached
2 pairs of new 1960's bri-nylon socks
1980's oversizd purple paisley batwing cardi
Vintage Fur collar
Gorgeous 1960's beige cropped faux fur jacket - absolutely mint condition
Set of retro 70's coffee cups
Scrabble plus a compendium of games
1960's tricel "Modette" blouse
Two "fully-fashioned" jumpers
Levi's shirt
Some Indian clothing - Punjabi pants, cropped silk blouses and embroidered kaftans
Plus: a big pile of things that will need replacement buttons, rehemming and revamping - enough to keep me busy for days!0
