    Hi guys.
went to a CS and got the following
10 really pretty figurines- 20p each, total £2
a dark brown leather travelling bag -£4
a large embroidery art work/painting done in france in 1879 - £3.50 (had this date embroidered on it, to verify i opened up the back of the work and scanned the news paper used to fill the back, it was written in french but i found a date for something it advertised, 23 mars 1879)
an extremely large embroidery art/painting, not too good with measurement, but its slightly larger than a 50inch tv. was rather expensive tho- £30 (maybe i should have haggled more?) it was priced at £40,but i haggled down to 30, while i was taking a look around, a gentleman walked in and wanted the painting. the lady explained i had just bought it :)

    Wow! You lot do brilliantly!

I am super jealous! I'm in central London and in our charity shops we're charged a fiver for a Peacocks tee thats seen better days...perhaps something to do with the uber expensive rates maybe!?

So no designer bargains here I'm afraid (unless Im just not looking in the right place!) although I did find a boxed "Dreamphone" board game in excellent condition which I used to play when I was younger for £2... me & the girls had a great night in reinacting our teens on Saturday night!

I love reading all your finds so please keep posting - my fave thread on the forum by far! :)

    Sell the Dreamphone!

I bought one in November for £1.99 - sold it on eBay for £27!
    Saving for Uni!

    £10,000 by Dec 31st 2010! - £347.57/£10,000

Oh, JTZ, I love charity shops like that! If I was in London I'd come with you.

Best thing to do is to take your time, go through every rail and leave no basket, shelf or rail unturned. I often find small sized ladies clothing on the kid's rails and ladies jeans in with the men's trousers. Nobody minds if you're in the shop for ages and leave without buying anything so don't be embarrased!

If there's a changing room try things on to avoid disappointment. It's best to go out dressing in clothes that are easy to remove (leggings, tunic top, loose fitting dress) so you don't get all hot and bothered.

Look for silk scarves, leather belts and handbags - always a great wardrobe staple and so expensive to buy new.

Don't worry about sizes, stuff is often mis-sized and vintage stuff comes up at least a size smaller than today's.

If you're not sure and it's cheap, buy it - it's for a good cause, after all!

Oh, I'm jealous too :( All the charity shops around here (apart from the Cats Protection one, but that always seems to be shut when I go) seem to have rows and rows of plain generic tops from George and Primark.

I'd also suggest rummaging, don't be embarassed! I'm sure that's what everyone else does, and the best bargains always seem to be tucked away in the bottom of a basket or at the back of a shelf. At first I used to be the same, but now I love nothing than a good old rummage! Vintage things are lovely because it seems to cover such a wide range of styles that you can always find something that suits you and your taste. I'd take a friend with you that's also into bargain hunting and have a good look through together, maybe then you won't feel so awkward? You could set a challenge to find 3 things that you think the other person would like

Is that the one in Stockton? I thought it had shut because I popped over a few times in my lunch hour or when I finished early and it was closed, but I've seen people walking around with the carrier bags. I love it in there, but like you said, it's too small! They gave me loads of packets of cat grass in there for free before as well :) I like the PDSA shop in Stockton as well, they don't charge silly prices for things.

That's it, I want to go on a charity shop mission now :( Just discovered that the Redcar car boot is on through the winter too so will probably be heading up there soon!

I finished at 1 today at work so popped over to Cat's Protection, put my things behind the counter so I could pop to the bank and they said to be back by 2.30 so I'm guessing you're right :) I got a lovely glass candlestick for 50p and a black shiny handbag for £2.

It's been a good day for candle related things as I went over to our Au Naturale which is closing down, and got two crackly gold type tealight holders down from £3 to 75p, then everything had 75% off on top of that so they were 18p each :T And also a big chunky glass purple tealight holder for 50p. Wanted to get 2 as I think candle holders look better in pairs but only had engh money on me for all my other bits so will have to pop back tomorrow and hope they still have some left!
