The main chains do charge a bit for some stuff don't they, the individual ones are best we have the Cat protection which is pretty good sometimes £1 for clothes, my Mam was in an independent one about 18 month ago and got Burberry Mac for £1 - its being in the right place at the right time

    yeah, i agree
the cat protection is really good.
    i love it :)

  • Hello

I have been 'lurking' around for many months and have decided to join in if I may?

    Today I got

    Tiny Tears Doll £3
Peppa pig toys £2.50 the lot

Not bad for this time of year. Roll on March for the Car boots and warmer weather!

Good find china - Topshops vintage range is so expensive so well done on finding that top so cheap elsewhere.

I had a huge clear-out over christmas and have 3 bin bags for the charity shop plus I found a few bits which I might ebay instead. Its daft how much stuff I own that I have never worn. I can't wait until the bootsales start again.

There is a rumour of a jumble sale this weekend so I am keeping my eye out for more info

    Happy New Year :)
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • Nice to see so many other peeps who get so excited about rummaging in bootsales n charity shops! I am not alone! :o) A lot of people I know can be quite snobby about going in to them yet they're usually the same people who always compliment my many 'new' outfits (which quite often has cost about a 20th of what theyve spent on theirs!) yay!
As an avid carbooter/charity shopper/ebayer I have lots of stories but a couple of recent ones include an authentic vintage Chanel top for £3.50 (too small for me so sold on for £75! just before Christmas) :o)
Risked life n limb today on terrible ice (had to get food after not venturing out for almost a week!) and am so glad I popped into the local CS as came back with ....
2 Next signature dressy tops £1.50 each
    gorgeous accessorize beaded bag £1.00
White Next signature dressy trousers 50p!
Primarni (NWT) black smart skirt 50p!
2 nwt black and white Dorothy P tops 50p each!
and a primark skirt (same design of one I had years ago and loved)
and finally a funky large zipped black and white large holdall which came in very handy for getting everything home in!! ;o)

    Happy New Year everyone!!

I bought the following on NYE-
a fabulous black dress from Coast as new for £9.99
Coast skirt £4.49- brown with layers of tulle and sequinned detailing
    Monsoon Lilac suede skirt £4.49
    M&S work top £3.99

I do begrudge some of the prices these days- I'm regularly looking at tags for £6-10 for skirts and trousers from Per Una or Monsoon in my local ones these days and most average shop tops are at least £4-5. You don't mind so much with the better labels but I don't expect to be paying that for plain tops from M&S, New Look, Supermarkets etc.

I can't remember the last time I got a "proper" bargain in a charity shop and I go in so many!! Nearly all of my 3 wardrobes are charity shop bits (Albeit 1 is full of stuff no longer fitting and waiting to be ebayed)

    Hi All,

Im new to this thread but not new to Charity Shopping! I love getting a bargain, and giving to a good cause at the same time. I often go in with bags of donations and come back out with just as much... oops!

Best bargain I got recently was a quilted box clutch from my local hospice shop, these are all over the high street at the moment and I only paid £1.00! All my snobby friends who wouldn't be seen dead in a CS complimented me on my new bag... little did they know!

For anyone that has Mile End (East London) assessable to them, there is now an indoor bootsale Sat & Sundays at the old peugeot garage on Mile End Road (2 mins from the station!) Even though its quite new, it always looks busy despite our recent rubbish weather!

Happy charity/carboot & ebay shopping! I look forward to returning here to read your bargains during 2010!

I'm another one looking for jumble sales in the north east! Does anyone know if the Gazette advertises them?

Our local Oxfam is closing down so absolutely everything in there was a pound, including all the big coats, pairs of boots etc. I got...

Pair of black open-toe summery wedges
Big black and white polka dot handbag
    Lovely black leather jacket
Thin cyber type black jacket with loads of zips and things
High waisted black wiggle skirt with full length zip
Long sleeved off the shoulder top with pink and red motif on
    Plain black zip hoodie
White floaty summer dress with blue and black vintagey floral pattern
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important
