JesaRose - jumpsuits are great!Am loving your blog goanmad ..... you've got such a good eye ! I'm still in training
.
Off to the charity shops tomorrow for a nosey (hopefully they'll have put some new things out - anyone know how often they change their 'stock'?)
Might get to the car boot this weekend too if I'm up early enough ... DH has to take DS to football between 9 and 10.30 so I need to be back before then .
Off to finish reading goan's blog..... see if I can learn something
.
Yes, JesaRose is quite right jtb2412, many shops put new stock in daily so it's worth popping in whenever you're passing. I find the volunteers get to know me this way and put stuff aside I might like.
We managed to go booting this morning as the rain had stopped. Mostly market stall type traders rather than booters but definately worth a visit even if it's just for a cauliflower and some parcel tape - it's a walk in the countryside if nothing else.
Today's finds included:
Vintage 1960's men's sheepskin jacket - 50p
TopShop peep toe wedges - 50p
Alice Cooper 1987 tour tee - 50p
1930's silk-lined capelet - £4
Vintage "Man on Flying Trapeze" toy - 50p
1950's boxed shoe stretchers - 50p
2 horse brasses (for a project, I'm not recreating a country pub!) - £1
Set of curling irons and instructions posted in April 1930 - 50p
Vintage car radio (small enough to fit our '68 Beetle) - £1.50
I've just popped some of today's finds on my blog if you're interested.
Just checked my local newspaper online and there's a jumble sale this evening :j - quite a down-at-heel area but I did well when they held one last year.0 -
DianneB - Your mac could be the same as the one I got (see previous photo) and £1 is an fantastic price! :T[/QUOTE]
Hi Penny_farthing, saw your photo and they are very similar, mine hasn't got the lovely collar yours has!! Love your red jacket with frogging, and the china, you do get some first class bargains.Slightly bitter0 -
Afternoon all
Today's trekking didn't find much but I live in hope! I did get a nice green Monsoon cardi/jacket type thing (will post a pic later). DD1 (who's a teenager) says it's very 'in' at the moment so I'm pleased with it. It wasn't very cheap though £6.99 but I did like it and I'm sure it would have cost more new.
Going into the next town tomorrow to pick up an order from the butchers so I might just have to pop into their charity shops for a nose.
Off to see what goanmad's got today.
Edit: I found this exact same monsoon jacket on E**y ..... will watch it to see how much it sells for ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200403703850&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en:jWeight loss to date 1st 11.5lb :j0 -
I popped in a few charity shops while out today and got:
2x 1980s vintage bags, both black velvet and very on-trend - £1.60 & £1
White full net underskirt £3.95
HUGE patent quilted handbag £5 from the Sally Army. We found the exact same bag in TK Max for £30 an hour later. The Sally Army lady said she only put the bag out 10mins before we went in so you definately do have to be in the right place at the right time
Pair of brand new tagged Dotty P shoes £2.50
New Dior Dark blue tights 50pNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
I saw a table top sale and couldn't resist a peek! I picked a a Royal Doulton money box for ds (missing the stopper) for 20p and a fantastic enamel coffee pot just like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360206880349&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT for £1! I love it!August: £149/£150
Sept: £200

jtb, they're selling well at the moment. I got a long one in August for a tenner inc postage, a short one the other week for £17 inc postage, and two more long ones last week for £5 and £10. They were around £75 new for the long ones, I really wanted one but couldn't afford it. I love them because they're so versatile, and easier to wash than normal coats and jackets.
I got to look round the chazza's in a new town (Cambridge) the other day. I got:
A nice big pink scarf, £3
A really nice trinket box, £4. I was going to give it to my sister as a graduation present, but when I built up to it with 'do you still collect trinket boxes' she pulled a face and said no. So I'll keep it for myself.
A red velvet/silk/sparkly scarf, £1
A silver coloured bangle, £2, but the silver paint's coming off which I didn't notice till later. It'll still be wearable for a while though.
An Alice Walker book, £1.25.
3 handbags for £3 altogether. I think one's supposed to be a kids one, but it's really funky and hippyish and it'll be great for when I'm just going to the theatre or something where I don't need all the crap I usually cart round.
Best of all, and my bargian of the last few months, a big solid wooden jewellery box, for £3.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
jtb - That Monsoon jacket is very chic and stylish! Good find!I saw a table top sale and couldn't resist a peek! I love it!

Went to the Salvation Army shop today and they'd saved me a vintage 1960's Cecil Gee suede jacket in chocolate brown with orange stitching and gold rivets, bless 'em. Absolutely fab condition and only £3!0 -
Nipped out this morning while there was a break in the stormy weather and managed to find these in my favourite charity shop.

At £5 a bit above what I would normally pay for a scarf but just fell in love with it :heart2:0 -
