Best Car Boot, Charity Shop and Jumble Sale Bargains - New Thread 4/10/09

Not sure if this qualifies for this thread or not but I bought this fantastic blue & white china serving platter by TGG & Co from an eBay charity shop for just £3.99.
Collected it from their trading warehouse myself (fortunately just a couple of miles from me) so saving £9 postage. It's absolutely mahoosive - 46cmx36cm so plenty big enough for serving up the Xmas day bird and all the trimmings - and in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or crackles anywhere. Couldn't be more thrilled with my bargain CS find - even if it was online!

It's a really lovely set -I'm envious!0 -
Not strictly ebay/Amazon/jumble sale but I recently bought a lot (and I mean a LOT) of Thomas The Tank stuff on Gumtree with the idea to break it up into smaller amounts and give it to a couple of nephews for the next couple of birthdays and Xmases. Think they will be getting these as presents till they hit their teens now (they are both just 3 at present)
Once I got it home and started to sort it out, I realised how much there really was (5 very large boxes). Enough track and buildings to fill a large room - and as for the engines and coaches.....
Ah, well, it will keep them happy ...once I sort it all out.0 -

It might be worth sending an elail with a picture to the Shelley Collectors Club - www.shelley.co.uk
Perhaps they could help you -they're bound to have a lot of knowledge on the different patterns0 -
I have some info on Shelley patterns at work but am not back there til Monday morning so if you can get a bigger photo on by then I'll try and find it for you
Just found this though for you:
"Pieces marked with a number two in a circle are second ware pieces. These items were thought not to be up to Shelley's high standard and were then decorated with a second ware pattern"
I can't see one of these on your base so I don't think you do have "seconds"Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
