My friend did a booty yesterday and she asked me to help her she said I could bring anything I wanted to sell - I took along 3 items and sold 2 of them so made a little bit of cash with no outlay.

Best bargain yesterday the new jill mansell book - FREE from the lady on the next door stall.. I have all her other books but must have missed this one as its a 2011 one. It made my day!

I also got a baby sterilier for 50p - same one we had but I broke the lid and had to replace it (with a NAFF NAFF NAFF one - new version by the same company I HATE it total waste of £10 and that was on half price offeer) so I made a hybrid - my old one now has a new lid - I now will not burn myself everytime I sterlize the baby bottles. Definitely a mega bargain.
Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)

I've just got back as the heavens opened - good timing! I was there early this morning as Mrs B has an early shift. I got a little Topshop sparkly shrug which I KNOW Mrs B will love - 50p, a pair of shorts for me - 50p, a Man U top for Kiddo for football training - £2 (she's very pleased!), and also got Kiddo a new Dance Mat for the Wii, with 3 games for a FIVER! I couldn't believe it when the lady told me the price!I was debating putting it up for Christmas for her but was a bit worried that it may be faulty (hence the low price!) so have given it to her now. It works perfectly so I have lost custody of the television.......have a very happy 14 year old though! She'll dance all day!:j
  • Got a gorgeous 10ft x 3ft classic deep red indian runner rug. Paid £35 for it, judging by the wonky lines and the soft touch I reckon it's handmade and wool or merino, probably worth about £4-600 squid in John Lewis? Anyone...?

Anyhow I'm very happy with it! :) ..everything you see in this pic is lovingly gleaned and cleaned from car booties, well, all except the flooring and the building that is!

Looks like you got a bargain to me! It's lovely :)

It was spitting with rain this morning when I went to our local car boots. Even so I managed to get lots of baby clothes for my 14 week old daughter. I'm buying bigger sizes so I don't need to buy at full price over the winter ;) I got a big bag off one lady for £12! All Next,M&S & Monsoon so a complete bargain. Especially as many were new with tags!

I also got another big bag from the other car boot this time Zara & Next & these were priced at 20p an item! Needless to say I got plenty. All lovely warm winter trousers & dresses so I'm really pleased.

    Lamaze toys 50p each

My other daughter who is almost 4 has been treated to some Ted Baker Leggings,Disney Cinderella,Beauty & The Beast & Dumbo dvds all of which were £1 each.

Really pleased with today's purchases! :j
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:
  • I've just been made redundant and i'm expecting our first baby in January so I need to get some bits and pieces and have very little cash so I went to a carboot and jumble sale yesterday and i'm pretty please with my modest haul.

From the car boot i got a very large pyrex casserole dish with lid for £1, a Lamaze tummytime mat (which has been washed and looks like new and I have no packaing to get rid of) for £3 thats £25 in Argos and at the jumble sale I got a v.big bag of mega blocks for 30p!

I haven't been to a carboot in ages and had forgotten how cheap you can pick stuff up especially as i've been searching eBay for bits and pieces so have a far idea how much things are going for on there.

I find that you can pick up fantastic baby stuff alot cheaper than you would on Ebay. I also think you have the added bonus of seeing it in the flesh so to speak rather than in a photo. Great finds :)

  • Hi everyone. :) I am a car boot and charity shop addict! I havent been to a car boot for ages though due to lack of funds, the last time was a few months ago! My bargains that day were:
Exvellent condition Ben 10 Plimsolls 50p
BNIP Twilight Necklace for my sister 50p (£7.99 new)
BNIB Ben 10 comic book maker £1 (about £10 new)
Im always on the hunt for Dr Who stuff for my son but I very rarely see any and if I do the seller usually wants way too much for it, I know you have to pay more for some of the rarer stuff but this is usually the common tat lol. Im going to have to squeeze in a few car boots before they shut for winter. :)

    Flippin' gorgeous!
  • Wow, some fab bargains on here.

I have had a lot of charity shop luck recently- not least a gorgeous as new Planet jacket today for £6. I've just looked on the Debenhams site and they go for £169 new .

I picked up a toy pushchair for my DS last week for £2 and he absolutely loves playing with it.

I have to say that before I had my LO I had no idea just how brilliant car boot sales are for children's clothes. I have picked up so many lovely items for him for 50p an item, all from Next, Mamas and Papas, John Lewis etc. I am astounded at the bargains that can be had, and I bet my friends are fed up of me telling them about them too :rotfl:.

I couldn't agree more. I rarely buy my 15 week old daughter brand new clothes as the second hand stuff I pick up is so good! I too get all Next,M&P,John Lewis,M&S,Ted Baker etc. And it's soooo cheap. I got so much last week :D I'm stocking up on winter clothes in bigger sizes now so that when the car booting season comes to an end I don't have to spend a fortune on new stuff.
