Best Car Boot, Charity Shop and Jumble Sale Bargains - New Thread 4/10/09

My sister is expecting her first baby, and the shops in Wareham in Dorset have provided some real bargains for clothing for the new arrival (due in a month!). 99p for a NWT baby teeshirt with a cute design - and that was only the start of it. There's a lot of nice places to shop in Wareham high street but this little shop (can't remember the charity it was selling for) was just bargain city!"Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
Am now Crowqueen, MRes (Law) - on to the PhD!0 -
Went to my first car boot of the season (well, I went to one a couple of months ago but that can hardly be classed as a car boot!) today;
3 PC games for £1.
Doctor Who Top Trumps for 20p
TARDIS figure (which made noises - surprised me as I walked away from the sale!) for £1.25
But the bargain of the day was a woman selling her son's PS2 Slim in good nick with two controllers. I asked her whether it was in working condition and she replied, "Yep, definitely. It's a fiver, by the way."
Snapped it up, bought a few games for it and got him home. Plugged it in, and works like a dream.
It was absolutely boiling, though!0 -
Got 7 Per Una skirts all nwt £39.50-£45 £1 each (she left me have the 7 for a fiver)
Graco travel cot £4.20 (all the change I had she wanted a fiver)
Roxy hat and scarf (£20 tag on hat £25 tag on scarf) 20p the 2
Jeans for my fella, £30 on the tag £1
Lots more odds and ends did really well today0 -
I had a great morning at the bootsale - it was heaving and boiling hot!
*Some gorgeous 1950s jewellery & accessories
*Floral Oasis cardigan £2
*ASOS floral smock top £1.50
*Lots of DVDs to keep us entertained 50p each
*some lovely vintage dresses for the summer - mostly about £2 eachNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Due to the rain didn't go to Saturdays boot fair, but my friend did and spent 3 hours there and got lots of bargains (she had only been to the midweek one there before ).
My BARGAIN of the month from Ebay - baby carrier - metal framed one you carry baby on your back - £0.99p of ebay - got it with my opening bid. I expected it to go for much more, it is lovely condtion, seller was so helpful so won it last night and picked it up today. My LO is too small for it at the moment but I expected to have to look for ages before i found one in my price range.
Also got a book from the charity shop for 20p it was written by a lady I used to go to mums and tots with - and illustrated by the lady who led the group. I was shocked to find one in the charity shop as its pretty newly out but very pleased!!!!
Haven't had much luck with charityshops recently, the things I like tend to be really expensive. Will try my hand at looking round the boot sales again.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0 -

Yay, my first car boot sale in months! Quite alot of rubbish but bought a few Wade whimsies for 60p each (they remind me of my childhood) a huge bag of clothes for almost-11-year-old DD who is sprouting like a weed at the moment, mostly Next and Gap - £5, 6 x Mr Men books for DS - £1 and a pair of Converse All-Star baseball boots for DD for £1.50 - she has been after a pair of these for months, so was really chuffed!0

Ben 10 alarm clock for £1.50 so one very happy (usually very stroppy) 4 year old! And last week I got a brand new still in it's flat pack pine box which will be painted up and used in the porch for shoes for just £4 (and I made it all by myself - very smug about that - ex says I'm useless!). I have just put on the undercoat, actually!
Also, a ton of Mills & Boon for my mum at 10 for £1 (I won't embaress her by saying how many I bought!) so can't complain there. A good week this week!0
