I visited a new place on Friday , somewhere i hadn't been shopping before and of course I hit the charity shops. The comparison between the prices they had on their items and my local shops was amazing. This 'new' place was much much cheaper. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time but I did buy some 1930s costume jewellery for less than a fiver all in. I may be getting a miniscule share of proper retail premises soon, so this sort of item will go nicely as it is small and won't take up much of my allocated space.

    Forgot to say welcome Banana_Llama

  • Hey guys - new to the forums, but I was so pleased with my purchase today I wanted to share here.

Welcome Banana Llama -the dress sounds fab. I know what you mean about trawling through the clothes in charity shops. My buys have always been something that catches my eye in the window.
Went to my first jumble of the year today. Got:
Old looking gilt picture frame 50p
    Newer gold picture frame 50p
Oak plaque with copper stylised peacocks (looks very art nouveau but label on back says it came from Greece)
    Bloomingdales little brown bag 40p
    Clarins make-up bag 40p
    Black leather purse 40p
    Pink leather purse 40p
Beige leather gloves (like new) 25p
    Oasis beige camisole 25p
Tomorrow I have 2 car boots (hooray!) - the first this year.
Don't forget the clocks go back - eugh...will be like a 6am start (keep thinking of the bargains, keep thinking of the bargains...).

Car all packed and ready as I 'm selling tomorrow at a car boot rather than buying. Wish me luck!

I went to a one off boot sale this morning. It was very poorly advertised which you could tell as soon as you walked through the door. There were 4 stalls - 2 of those were raffles and 1 was selling teas and coffees! The woman asked me for 50p entrance fee, but I declined to go any further!
