Best Car Boot, Charity Shop and Jumble Sale Bargains - New Thread 4/10/09

One of my local charity shops has put its prices up by between 50% and 100% although not as dear as the one I saw in Kensington in London. They had a pair of boots that I bought out of TK Maxx at double the new price and the condition was very poor.0

A frienhd saw an M&S jacket in a charity shop in a local market town for £32 - in poor condition! She got one in another town, another day, for £8 (and thhis one was NWT!) Pricing is sometimes very eccentric, with High Street names priced higher than European designer gear because the names aren't recognised and the quality and finish isn't recognised.
My best buy recently - a Fendi (Karl Lagerfeld) big twilled silk square in black and beige - £2.50 and 2 pairs of vintage, but unworn Ferragamo shoes for £5 a pair!0 -
I saw a really scratched leather pair of new look shoes with worn down kitten heels looked fit for the bin £4.50 i was a little vocal in my disbelief that they should have been sold at all. I have the same shoes at home in much better condition but i would hesitate to car boot them for 50p lol0

Evening, gang!
We went to a table-top sale at a local church this morning. Got the following:
Vintage brushed nylon maxi dress (photo on blog)
5 sets of shoe stays
4 leather belts
3 vintage quilted dressing gowns - two silk ones but far too big, boo! The other one has three-quarter sleeves with a typically 1950's rose print, lovely and snug.
Vintage quilted bed jacket
White cotton nightie with tiered hem and ducks sitting in Martini glasses and driving sports cars embroidered on the yoke!
Shabby chic rose print curtains
Pair of 1970's cotton pillow cases with a fab retro design
Total spend: £4.50
Fingers crossed for booting weather tomorrow!0 -

Photographs have just been added.
Forgot to set the alarm this morning and were awoken by a trio of hungry cats at 10am this morning! The weather was dire for outdoor booting but there were a couple of indoor car boots advertised.
How are your Pretty Polly stockings packaged, hflower74? There's an interesting history on their website http://www.prettypolly.co.uk/index.html#history.php
I sold a pair of their vintage "Empire-Made" travel slippers earlier this year for £30!0 -
Wow that's great, like you say, it's so random
Love the idea of dressing it up for festival season, it does look like one of those hippy boho dresses, especially if you accessorise it up
great find
