It is a difficult one. I know even say credit card offers such as 0% for a period are limited to so many people so advertising them here means a quick rush for them, however these are one off deals, not something that is a trade secret such as the coupon policy. 10,000 snap up quickly or 10,000 take it out over a month or so, makes no odds really. The difference is it's basic common sense if a large proportion of people redeem coupons on stuff they haven't bought that Tesco would actually take more coupons than products sold. Therefore it is basic common sense that such policies will get scrapped if suddenly takeup goes thru the roof.

There is a big difference between advertising low utility rates, good credit card and cashback offers etc and those little known policies and 'loopholes' that we hunt out and quietly advertise to a relatively select group, ie. regular active members on here, PTS, UKHD etc (yes there may be hundreds of thousands of members here but lets be honest how many actively hunt out the glitches and 'loopholes' here?) We are talking hundreds or thousands, not millions, and many of these things are not sustainable for millions to enjoy. Would be great if everyone could pay for all their shopping in MOC's day in day out in Tesco but its basic common sense they can't. So yes we are all a bit selfish here, but its a case of having to be.

Oh and I am another who would like to see Martin be a man and come here and answer his critics. He is quick enough to seize stuff and broadcast it to the nation, so why not come here and answer his critics?

To the individual saying this is a free site.. Get real.

Do you think martin does this site out of the kindness of his heart? Its a business model... it gets advertisement revenue from all the links as someone has put... its basically like a comparison website but a bit more detailed and informative...

But the model of business is still the same.... X number of users clicking Y number of links buying Z number of products = X*Y*Z*fee...

By appearing on tv programmes martin is advertising his own site.. which in turn raises more revenue for his business. This site is a business.... which indirectly charges us through clicking and purchasing of deals/links from banks to insurance providers the lot.

Thats how its funded.... martin gets a salary from this (quite large one i'd say and why not i guess it is his baby).

The GMTV thing.. no doubt raised the hits on this site a fair bit... which furthered his business... increasing revenue.. but at the cost of those who work (for free i might add) to find glitches.

This business model is great... provide a community forum with hundreds of thousandss of viewers, thousands of contributers and what you get is an incredible research team that will find any glitch, deal ,combo ,information right there for martin without him doing any work. This is what this thread did... we inadvertingly worked for his goals as well as our own.

I just feel like i was sacrified to further MSE's income and own goals

Oh just found this - thank you tescoisace :D

I wonder what Martin is thinking having read all of the comments - pretty pants I'm sure.

I cannot personally blame him - just think if we were watching GMTV for the 1st time and had never heard of MSE () or had any idea of using coupons and we spent say £100 a week EVERY week in Tesco's.

Then you see Mr L on telling you how you can save money by simply going to some websites and then printing & snipping the coupons.

You would instantly have a look and then go for it. Wow if you could save upto £500 a year on your shopping you would be like this

Same goes for the Council Tax re-bands, Cashback sites etc.

He was simply offering ANOTHER way of saving money each week :A

It's the greedy/stupid/criminal people who sadly brought it to an end in my own personal opinion. If only they could have come on here and read the Updated Coupon thread from the start we may all be sitting planning our trips to Mr T's tomorrow

    hi moyilla
yes, i also think that greed brought it to an end, and pedigree must also take some blame in using smart coupon, (what a lethal piece of software that is) they where emailed about the possible fraud and didn't act. .......but then again, neither did tesco, so greed all round. i think martins bad timing on tv, along with the easy availability of the pedigree high value mocs, was a disaster waiting to happen, which has backfired on us all.
keep up the boycott folks......every little helps.

AN example of funding on this website is:

The Gas/Elec Switching is totally biased or was last time i looked. it tells people to go to Energyhelpline which will give you 30 quid for a dual fuel switch..

YET.... if you are switching to Scottish Power, EDF, EON or even British Gas you can beat this cashback by going through quidco or topcashback.

    I.E SP - 80 to 100 quid
    British Gas - 40 quid
    EDF - 60 quid (TCB)
EON- 60 quid (Quidco or TCB)

could it be the companies who issue the coupons have put pressure on Tesco for their policy?
given the coupons are to encourage people to buy their products

    Hi guys

Martin's not around to reply at the moment and may well want to remove my post when he's seen it.

In the meantime please remember MSE is here to save everyone money legitimately, wherever they are, we'd never want to stop anyone being able to save money and always want to let people know about ways they can do that, whether it's in the weekly email (received by 4 million people each week) or on TV.

Meanwhile, the MSE News team is finding out whether the rumours that Tesco has decided to stop accepting coupons are true.

    Thanks!

    Andrea :)

    Andrea

Thanks for at least acknowledging this thread, hopefully ML will get round to it between TV appearances.

Quite a few of the posters have already stated that their coupons have been refused since last Friday.
    Mine were on Saturday last.

Lets hope the MSE News team don`t make matters worse (if it can get any worse) by contacting Tesco.
