I too can join the "brown velour sofa from Granny" club......We had the full three piece suite in our very diddy studio-type starter home
It is a very exclusive club don't you know :rotfl:
Not that exclusive if it has me as a member..... I remember buying the brown velour corner seating unit in 1982! Got very tatty very quickly though. One life - your life - live it!0 -
I STILL have a "retro chic", "rich chocolate" coloured sofa! In "soft to the touch" fabric! Plus matching armchair - which is an added luxury I know.
It has no choice but to last a considerable amount of time longer yet!Pround to be dealing with my debts! DFW Nerd # 1201

Wow! I didn't go down that route at all
I bought my little flat in 1980 with a 10% deposit and I had to buy nearly all the furniture new - there wasn't really much to give away
The one thing I did get was a table, which I still use - my grandad bought it for my mum and dad when they bought a house in 1952 or so. He bought it for 2/6- down Paddy's Market (and thats the name of it still!) down by Liverpool Docks
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I will hold my hand up in shame to getting a 100% mortgage and having to buy everything on interest free.
Kind of explains why I'm here though...

I am sure it was perspex( but you could be right) and the corners where it was screwed to the base always used to gather bits around it:o Murderous to clean and it was probably third hand by the time we got it:o:rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
